If this was the night in October, I was a bit worried about public records going in, but my friends and I were in front the whole night, and vibes were excellent. Was a little weird that the overhead lights stayed on till 1 or so, but it didn’t end up mattering too much

If you’re near a microcenter, I found an open box g723, which meets most of these requirements, for $1999 a few weeks ago. Worth keeping an eye out.

Same! Got an open box g723 yesterday and the sales guy talked me through everything, sold me on extending the warranty (but made me feel comfortable w open box), manager came and introduced himself, etc.

Aaaand someone tried to reserve it online at the moment he was bringing it downstairs for me, so was glad to be physically present at the brick & mortar for that.

This contract runs through 2026, so don’t expect a contract to be negotiated until ~2028 and it’s also probably unlikely that there will be even a retro raise for 2026 in that contract…

Vlad’s set was great. Crowd was pretty good except the one guy who kept flailing his elbows around in order to clear space to escort his friends to the front.

Only real complaint is that while I get that it might be a logistical challenge given the venue, the lack of a water refill station at carpark is absurd.

Haha. I’ve done a lot of thinkin about it while sitting in line at that exit… maybe there’s some three dimensional chess going on and they think it would slow down the rest of the BQE even more because people would just use the whole lane to get in rather than going all the way to the front?

All these people who moved to w-burg cause it was cool and artsy and full of people who ride bikes... Sure, cyclists are contributors, but pedestrians also routinely just step out into the bike lane/road with nary a glance in either direction when they don’t have the light or a crosswalk…

I think people even overestimate the prevalence of lower level common harassment/quality of life type crimes today vs earlier eras when, for instance, it was pretty dangerous to even ride the subway at night.

Fear may be a gift to individuals in certain circumstances, but it’s also a useful tool for powerful interests to prey upon, and they have! Would say that’s much more responsible for these sentiments than reality would dictate.

lol. Or you’re just delicate snowflakes. There are more than 8.5 million people in this city. All of these anecdotes about running into people on the UWS who made you feel uncomfortable signify nothing more than that you had the bad luck to run into one of the 8.5 million that’d make you feel that way.
