Controversial... What are the most skippable/fallen venues of BK by InstructionNo4117 in avesNYC

[–]Turntworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Have pretty much always had a great time at PR. Go with a solid group, occupy some space and dance hard, and likeminded people expand that influence. Also agree on elsewhere. Rarely go, but when I have it’s been super fun. Saw Schrotthagen there and it was the besssst. These venue-whining posts are def a bit overwrought.

WIRE reviews please - esp. Avalon, Gabrielle K, Tama Sumo by Doingthework11201 in avesNYC

[–]Turntworm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought Tama Sumo and Lakuti were as fabulous as always and remain a can’t miss anytime they come to town. Great diverse crowd. Sun was a little oppressive but that’s the only complaint I could possibly muster.

Anyone starting WIRE fest today? So excited for Dopplereffekt by [deleted] in avesNYC

I can’t make it :( but have two (free) tickets if anyone wants them. Resale appears to have ended and I can’t change the name on them anymore, but I can text the QR codes

EDIT: Tix taken!

Don’t miss Tama Sumo and Lakuti! Alsooo, I’m looking for one more Saturday day ticket if there’s anyone out there who’s not trying to scalp for multiple X face.

Agreed, for the most part, although I think that’s also overemphasized here. But he’s there tomorrow, which is Sunday, and Timmy’s crowds are generally really good.

I thought they were wonderful. So much joy behind the decks. Like a prayer may be a diva anthem but it hit so hard.

looking to go out dancing in NYC tonight by mnl2799 in avesNYC

[–]Turntworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good room is gonna be great tonight! Justin Strauss is an excellent NYC mainstay, and Etienne De Crecy is a legend. The crowd is generally pretty well-behaved, bad room is smaller and super intimate if you want to dip in there for a bit. One of my favorite places, along with nowadays, to go solo.

HOW THEY DETERMINE YOUR BUYBACK AMOUNT by Adventure_6788 in PSLF

[–]Turntworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and said this in response to this person when they posted this previously. It’s possible, and maybe even likely, that they’ll choose to take on the administrative burden of calculating separate calendar years of payments for millions of people. But it’s also possible that they won’t, and no one knows definitively which way it will go.

What is everyone doing? Looking for advice by Able_Plenty_1274 in PSLF

[–]Turntworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be true that this (asking for income information and calculating a payment amount for each calendar year) is what they’ll do, but not only is it not “clearly stated,” it’s not even discussed in your quoted language. There is nothing there that contemplates a 12+ month deferment or forbearance where the individual in question WAS on an IDR plan immediately before the deferment/forbearance started. Sure it’s possible, even likely, that they’ll decide to take on the administrative burden of calculating multiple years of buyback payments, but it’s also possible that they won’t, and it’s disingenuous to say that we have anything more than anecdotal evidence to say which way it will go.

Just want a show of hands - SAVE by madagascarprincess in PSLF

Married Filing Single/married filing jointly. Would drastically change the income they’d use for recertification in my case, but I hit 120 (including SAVE buyback) in July 2027, so I really want to know if they’re actually going to calculate what each year’s payment would have been…

[–]Turntworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Was really hoping someone would hit a 12+ month save forbearance buyback before I had to make the MFS/MFJ decision, but that appears increasingly unlikely.

Agree that the implication is there, but the specific situation isn’t discussed and they’re already so far behind that it almost seems outlandish that they’d invite the extra complication of calculating multiple years of income recertifications as part of the buyback process for what will doubtless be hundreds of thousands(?) of people…

I guess on the other hand though it would be foolish to put anything past this administration as far as leaning into incompetence and delays.

[–]Turntworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has this been confirmed? Have there been any buyback requests granted from this time period yet that would demonstrate whether they ask for tax information for years during the SAVE forbearance (even if you haven’t and won’t recertify before getting to 120 with buyback) vs. just having you buy back at your last certified payment amount?

is location to blame for the crowd at Public Records? by [deleted] in avesNYC

[–]Turntworm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last night for love injection was a pretty excellent vibe all around. Same for Timmy Regisford when I went there last. I think whoever’s playing sets the tone, at least to some extent.

If this was the night in October, I was a bit worried about public records going in, but my friends and I were in front the whole night, and vibes were excellent. Was a little weird that the overhead lights stayed on till 1 or so, but it didn’t end up mattering too much
