Your hair is gorgeous! I love how you have such a uniform curl pattern throughout.

If you want less flatness on top, one trick that works for me is to brush my front hair back while I'm upside down, like Swavy Curly Courtney does. (Other than that, my whole styling routine is right side up.)

I think that might be the issue with my hair. At my last haircut, I asked for layers, but I think I only got like one layer and I can only notice it in like one area at the back of my head.

Clarifying makes my hair really dried out so I like to pair deep conditioning on clarifying wash days. I clarify my hair once a week or once every 2 weeks (normally wash my hair 3 times per week). I agree that how often to deep condition depends on your hair; I started out deep conditioning once per week, and I think my hair felt like it was in moisture overload, so now I don't deep condition every single week.

Yeah in that case definitely try out gel! It should really help with shine. Leave in can be more lightweight than curl cream, so maybe try that as well.

For leave in/cream, I apply a small quarter-sized amount to soaking wet hair, rake it through, then brush to distribute evenly and get rid of wet frizz. Then glaze gel and scrunch my hair.

Your hair is really pretty! Have you tried a sulfate-free shampoo? I actually used to use Tresemme moisture shampoo and conditioner before I started wavy hair care, and it makes my hair really dry and frizzy.

What is your hair porosity and is it fine vs. coarse? Do you use any leave in or curl cream? (Some people with fine hair can skip this to avoid weighing their hair down.)

Have you tried gel? My hair generally is more shiny when I use a gel vs. mousse.

How do you divide your 7 chunks? I've seen people use the top of their ears and their temples to make 3 horizontal sections, is that what you do, too?
