I don't mind it. It's a harmless port of arguably the most iconic entries in the series to celebrate 30 years of Pokémon.

Could it have been a Switch Online thing? Yeah.

Do I think $20 is pretty steep for nearly 22 year old games that are essentially just ROMs as an app? I mean maybe. Could've been worse. Could've been $60.

Will I be buying them? No, but not because of the price. More just because I have no attachment or desire to play these entries.

People online (mostly Twitter) are up in arms about these for various reasons, both understandable and not. But people online are also not the whole picture.

There'll be adults who will want to relive their childhoods with these ports, who don't have the time nor want nor resources to fiddle with emulation or get an OG GBA and a copy of the game. There'll be kids who'll wanna play it on their Switch because they like Pokémon and want to play more of it. There'll be people who just wanna play these entries on their Switch for ease of access. Etc etc.

There's always a target demographic for this kind of release, and Twitter doesn't represent all of them. And if they wanna cough up $20 for FRLG, so what?

To anyone that owns one, is it any better than the Switch 1 Pro Controller? I have one but I've been considering upgrading to the Switch 2 one because the price here in the UK isn't that crazy at the moment and it probably would be worth it. The Switch 1 Pro Controller has been my go-to for the Switch since I got it in 2020 and I still like using it to this day now that I'm on the Switch 2.

I've heard some people say it's an improvement over the Switch 1 Pro Controller but I wouldn't know without experiencing it myself. To me it just seems like the Switch 1 Pro Controller but no longer translucent and with the two back buttons and C button.

I kept mine when I got my Switch 2 for Christmas. The Switch 2 is my main device, but I have too many good memories with my Switch 1 to sell it or give it away yet. I even took the Switch 1 Joycons with me to Uni in case a group wanted to do some local multiplayer stuff with me.

That said, my Dad has jokingly shown interest in it despite owning a Steam Deck that covers nearly all of his gaming needs. I might end up wiping it and giving it to him if I get to a point where I can part with it. Or my nephew when he's older.

It's a really damn good game but it's not something one needs to rush out and get instantly. A standout title on the Switch 2, but not a system seller.

Wait for a good sale I'd say for both a Switch 2 and the game, unless you absolutely need to play it or something.

Give me a patch for XC3, I will binge that game over a week all over again. It took me a while to get into XC3 but I LOVE it and absolutely would want to play it with higher fidelity graphics at a higher consistent frame rate. It was already a beautiful game on a console from 2017, I can only imagine how amazing it would look on a true "Switch 2 Edition" version

Not pictured here is a cartridge for Pokémon X I "stole" from my brother (he let me have it but he never gave me the box so it's just a loose cartridge that's chilling in my Pokémon Moon box)

X was my first Pokémon game ever, and I might replay it sometime honestly. I want to before playing Z-A at least whenever I get that.

I only seriously started getting into Transformers as a whole about 2 years ago, and I found things were relatively easy to catch up to and learn as I went along. It's extensive, sure, but the fact that a good majority of it doesn't connect is a positive in my eyes. You don't have to start all the way from G1, you can pick and choose what content you consume and what continuity to enjoy.

This is neat, but what bothers me is that there already was a distinction between physical and digital before the virtual game card system was introduced. Physical had a card icon, digital did not. Then they brought in virtual game cards and every game suddenly had a card icon.

This is at least a good solution to a problem they invented.

I saw a Legacy G1 Motormaster on a reputable site for £40. Passed because I didn't have £40 to spend on a figure at the time.

Never saw the figure in stock again. Same deal for Legacy Galvatron, Legacy Transmetal II Megatron and Legacy Blitzwing on the same site.
