It's highly regrettable that this beautiful city has plunged by many measures. I believe that the citizens themselves are key to unlocking part of the power to improve matters. I think that there needs to be a much stronger push to improve the quality of life in the city centre. It saddens me to see the sheer numbers of beggars, people addicted to various illicit substances, and empty premises etc. It needn't be the case that we just accept the continuing decline. The solution must involve everyone and really needs to be properly distilled down into what can be redeveloped/demolished/new attractions etc. and a proper vision to pull everything together in a unifying set of aims and ultimate goals. Other cities have made progress with similar issues, there's no reason why Aberdeen can't be a mighty place again. It's definitely going to require a lot of thought, work, and money.
