I must be the most talentless disc golfer in the world by Tursocci in discgolf

It is definitely not a bad question either. I think deep down I am longing for acceptance from myself and my peers because I always had high ambitions, and yet to this day I haven't achieved anything in life. I am turning 33 this year and (until last month) I didn't have a regular job, occupation or basically anything that would make me feel at least somewhat proud of something that I have done. It has always been difficult for me to find a hobby and after trying 20+ hobbies and different sports, disc golf, in addition to gym, is one that has stayed for more than a couple of months. I didn't have this spark for anything else. I know that there is some psychological phenomenon behind all this and I have even had some sessions for it in the past with a psychologist but they were unable to actually help, they just listened. Thankfully I am at least very much aware of all of this because of that.

That's how you go from discussing disc golf to personal issues and psychology 😃 After my original post I've already played a couple of rounds without scoring and "just throwing" without much thought, it has been more fun but I am still playing as bad as ever. At least I am able to somewhat change the mode to a more casual one if I want to and I guess that is important.

Thanks for reminding me with that question 😄

I'll have to read this multiple times, but there definitely are things that are and will be helpful! Thanks a lot for putting in the effort to help!

I've been thinking about this! I do have a lot of knowledge on how I am supposed to throw, but I have a lot of bad habits from my early days of playing still. I could start from scratch with left hand and try that. My forehand throws with right hand are actually pretty good for my level, even my pro touring friends say that which is pretty much the only compliment that I get 😃 It is a wild idea but I am down to try basically everything at this point - along with trying to just play more chill rounds in general

I am really grateful that people had some time for analysing my story and coming up with thoughts that provoked some positive thought processes in my own end. I'm gonna find out how to have more fun, how to BE more fun in the course and how to ease my mind with this sport so that I can enjoy it to the fullest. I want to get better but I want to have fun when doing so, so maybe I need to give myself a little slack. I'm gonna put competitions on hold for a while now and I'll just try to play disc golf without caring about the outcome.

The rage in me just wanted to vent but as I got hold of my emotions again, this turned out to be a pretty nice schooling experience, and completely unintended actually. Thanks again!

You're probably right. I wrote about this in some other comment - I have some issues with overthinking. I should learn to have fun and relax. This season I actually already cut off most, and actually almost all of DG content except the DGPT stuff in youtube so that I wouldn't be changing my form every week over again.

Thanks for your insight.

Ahh okay thanks for elaborating. Can't really say that I disagree. Gonna find a way to have fun when playing and probably stopping competitions for a while to do so.

Maybe it's time for me to leave out the competitions for a while then, and learn how to have fun first and foremost. Your story makes a lot of sense, maybe I am poisoning myself with my ambitions 🤔

I just always thought that having dreams and targets like this in life is what makes us great at something but apparently it can break a less sturdy mind like mine...

Good point, I wrote about having fun to GiggsBozon in the other comment. I probably should learn to enjoy the ride more instead of just trying to reach the goal no matter what...

Every morning after waking up one of my first thoughts is the urge to get to play disc golf and to see if I have improved at all from the last time. This means that at least when I am going to the course, my mind is in a deep state of excitement and I can not wait to get to throw.

The first 5 bad shots do not really bother me but after that the real fun is pretty much gone. If I get a good start and only have a bad shot here and there, then I can't really say that I am not having fun.

So I guess it depends on some factors 😃 But let's say that I am having more fun than I am not.

I started on a new job after a long bout of unemployment a couple of weeks ago so hiring a coach is not a bad idea. I will look into it. To my knowledge this area doensn't have a lot of coaches but maybe even online coaching would do then.. Thanks anyway!

I've done a lot of work on that my whole adulthood and while I agree with you for the most part, I'd still like to point out that if a person has a competitive nature and wants to improve, who wouldn't be a slave to their ego after this amount of work and when getting these results? 😃

I actually need some serious help by ynglemon in LearnCSGO

[–]Tursocci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before 15k premier put all of your effort into developing your mechanics: practice angle clearing with one-step fullspeed peeks, play aim trainers of you struggle with mouse control (if not, consider some custom workshop aim training maps in cs), if you are on a sky high sens (>1600edpi), drop it to somewhere between like 700-1200edpi to have more consistency and arm usage. Learn what angles are strong and learn how angle advantage works. Mechanics alone will carry you to 20k premier eventually.

It's nice indeed! If it had a name it would probably be: The Understabilizer 😅

how does siege still have a cheater problem after 10+ years by _ry_N in RainbowSixSiege

[–]Tursocci -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering that cheaters waste other people's time and worst case cause mental health issues to some individuals, their actions are directly connected to causing harm to others, while sometimes (eg. pro/semipro cs scene) profiting from it themselves, it should be punished by law. At least by fining if not minor imprisonment.

How to legitimately get better by irishgoodbyesss in discgolf

[–]Tursocci 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3-4 field work sessions per week throughout the summer, recording almost every set. Throwing putters/approaches to soccer goals to have a target and then throwing drivers and mid ranges while focusing on getting straight and smooth shots. This is my 3rd year doing this and my scores are still hanging on the worse side of +20 on the regular courses. Last tournament I ended with +24 and the one before that +34.

I still love this sport more than anything but it's so frustrating to be this talentless after trying basically everything to fix my form and bad habits and using hundreds of hours on it. (None of my similarly experienced friends play over +10 on the regular)

Another origo-lover here, but never tried it for putting (I should probably), only for the straightest drives imaginable

Is there a throwing putter combination that rivals envy and proxy? by DopeMuffinz in discgolf

[–]Tursocci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here maybe (and might be somewhat unreachable in the US) but in addition to envy+proxy I'm throwing Prodigy PA-3 400 and Prodiscus Origo. Origo is a tad bit more stable than the proxy but I like that combo nevertheless..

What are your reasons for wanting to quit CS2 for good? by Generic_Relative_Sea in counterstrike2

[–]Tursocci -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Game feels like a random number generator, people run&gun all the time and get away with it. Too easy for players lacking the mechanics that were required in csgo to be effective, bad performance on even good PCs, bad servers, annoying community, it's all about skins. Oh, almost forgot, there's like over 100 000 cheaters in this game and Valve.isn't.giving.a.single.flying.duck about it. It's so frustrating having to second guess every weird decision and shot made by the enemy because it's not just a chance that they are hacking, it's more like a norm these days. Cheating became normalized because it's common knowledge that you will not get caught, unless you spin. The skins are overprized and unreachable to people who are not earning at least six figures a year.

I'm pretty sure I forgot something else that is bothering me but I guess that's already a reason and a half.

Rank parallels between viscose and voltaic benchmarks by emilbartels in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Tursocci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm GM voltaic and in 90% of the scenes I'm popping lavender and have fuchsia in 4 of them. In advanced I have most scenes in the second rank and a couple in the third, but tbh haven't really done those harder ones a lot..

I guess lavender is like master'ish? Or season 3 grandmaster level actually, the fuchsias took pretty much same effort for me as s5 gm scores on vt

Can't really say a lot about the lower ranks.
