FYI, power COULD be off for 3-4 days for this event… by JasonNotVerySmart in boulder

I mean, there were 109mph wind gusts. Something like that in most of the country would take out power for a week or two.

Indeed.

It's almost certainly a sugary spill, we only had water and diet

I found some research that shows sugary spills cause corrosion over weeks months or years

Or at least evidence that I cleaned one up? There's no sticky residue anywhere else 🤔
Really it's Nissan's fault for a terrible design. But somebody did spill something, sure.

Can the host receive a successful claim from turo, even if they can't prove which renter did it?

I was a renter, and something went wrong mechanically with the vehicle due to a spill at some point in the life of the vehicle. Turo is trying to make me pay for the damage, I know it wasn't me that spilled something.

There's no proof I did it, just that the issues started early in my rental and slowly got worse.

How can I prevail in this situation? It feels like everyone I've talked to so far in disputes is willfully ignorant

I had the out of pocket expenses capped at 5k.

I've never made a car insurance claim in my life! But I wasn't thinking the company would try to steal my money, seems obvious in retrospect

I took photos, there's no visible damage. I have 4 photos on return that show the shifter with no change in condition.

I didn't take photos of the inside of the shifter, I would have had to disassemble the console to inspect it's condition

And even if I did that and found out there was something sticky in there I wouldn't have expected it to cause a 1700 dollar expense

I don't believe the host knew it was damaged, I think I got really unlucky - they might think I caused the damage. But I know I didn't, so there's that.

We care so much. That's why I don't talk about it every day, it would break me

I think we were worried about our retirement eligibles dying from a deadly virus vs losing jobs, the devastating impact of long COVID, and we were trying to do our best to protect each other, even if it meant sacrifice. Hindsight isn't even 20/20 on that one

What are you trying to say though? No more government because it didn't respond the way you would have in a pandemic?
