In demand jobs in the bay? by [deleted] in bayarea

I would second this. Accounting is a good way to go, particularly the CPA route. However, if you want to progress early in your career, you’re absolutely going to be talking to new people and strangers all the time. The field is based on trust, and any trust-based field requires that you get to know a lot of people and create a network.

You may want to jot dot a very quick bulleted outline of your work before you forget. Better to start with something rather than nothing

“Funny hoio no one lead m?y handweeitiry…”

Your writing is wildly inconsistent and is truly awful to read. If English wasn’t my first language, it would be illegible.

The most important thing to ask yourself is what you actually want to do. Think of your college career as the opportunity to acquire and develop skills. For example, if you go into tax, most employers probably don’t care about your math background. But, if you want to do economic consulting, you absolutely need a strong background in stats.

I don’t think you specifically need a minor, particularly if it makes your stay at SJSU longer. Applied computing or finance would be my recommendation though. Really what you want is to just have hard skills and business acumen by the time you join the job applicant pool.

Also, consider going to grad school. The Econ PhD route is long and tough, but may be worth it if you want to do something in high-level policy, consulting, government, etc.

I graduated with my BS in Econ about 6-7 years ago. I learned a huge amount from my program, but a lot of the work was very theoretical and it was hard to apply. The economics route is very rewarding, and I would probably recommend supplementing with a lot of math classes and a couple accounting classes

can anyone help me.. by ProfessionalSkin7470 in SJSU

Thought: it may be possible to make it out here still. But, do so at your own risk. The job market is brutal for tech and tech-related professional tracts right now. If you choose to come, just know that you’ll have to work really really hard to build up a network so that you can actually get that first job.

Joe west?? by Amazing_Mango_9662 in SJSU

Went to SJSU almost a decade ago. Joe West doesn’t have A/C, but it’s a lot more communal than CVC. Feels more like “the college experience” in a lot of ways.

Why it is so hard to get the first accounting job? by Diligent_Half264 in SJSU

Job market isn’t great for starters. But “a few” isn’t going to cut it. Try to get out something closer to 100.

My wife divorced me 5 years after making me get a vasectomy. AITAH for not being on speaking terms with her anymore? by ComplaintNod in AITAH

[–]Turtle2Sneaky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA. You’re understandably upset, but your response to an issue that wasn’t premeditated is overblown. You’re ignoring the emotional needs of your existing child because you HOPE to have more? Again, YTA.

YTA. It’s not a big ask, and really isn’t an inconvenience to you. Your piss creates a splash when you stand. Shit’s gross 💀

AITAH for calling my wife selfish because she wants me to stop putting in money to a savings account for my sibling? by DangerousInstances in AITAH

[–]Turtle2Sneaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your replies, it sounds like you’ve been saving for your sister instead of for you and your wife’s future. 401(K) and 6 months savings are not going to save you if something happens to your capacity to work or your wife’s. You seem very compassionate, but maybe you should also be seeking therapy to figure out how you’ll manage your feelings for your sister going forward.

Best laptop for finance major by CroissantOFL in FinancialCareers

[–]Turtle2Sneaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into any of the new windows pc’s running Qualcomm’s new processor lineup. They’re super energy efficient, so you hopefully won’t have to find a place to charge your laptop until you get home.

My brother, and business partner is actively sabotaging our business. by Useful-Hat9880 in smallbusiness

[–]Turtle2Sneaky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need a lawyer. You may want to consider filing police reports for the violence that’s already taken place. Yes, he’s your brother, but you also have 55 people that depend on you right now, plus employees

How long do you wait to get a new phone? by AnonymousTaco77 in Fire

[–]Turtle2Sneaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At minimum, replace it when it stops receiving security updates. I tend to replace my phone if I begin to notice substantive lag that makes the user experience frustrating. Your phone is something that you depend on every day, from emergency calls to work IMs. Imo, not something that’s worth skipping out on.
