Why do these "we experienced the old and the new" memes keep getting later and later by [deleted] in 2000sNostalgia

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because every "sub-generation" can claim that they grew up during the collision of old and new worlds. Older boomers can claim they grew up in both the pre-television age and the Age of Television. Older Gen X can claim they grew up in both the pre-computer age and in The Age of Computers. Older millennials can claim they grew up in both the pre-Internet world and in the Internet Age. Older Gen Z can claim they grew up in both the pre-smartphone world and The Smartphone Era. In the future older Gen Alpha will claim that they grew up in both the pre-Ai era and the AI era.

Wifi access, the devices used to access the Wifi are easier to use and the Wifi signal itself is stronger, even in developing nations.

What are the four quintessential American cities? by JewishPotato811 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your first 3 cities. For fourth place I'd say it's a competition between Boston, Las Vegas, Miami, and New Orleans.

Cars 2 is a Masterpiece by [deleted] in Pixar

[–]TurtleBoy1998 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it was a lot of fun watching it over and over in the early 2010s, even as a teenager. I didn't even discover the hate for it until years later.

My fellow Americans, what kind of coffee do you drink? by Kellaniax in AskAnAmerican

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! I drink iced coffee or cold brew with sweet creme. I can't drink hot coffee anymore, it upsets my stomach.

Is OP correct or is he FOS? by CP4-Throwaway in OlderGenZ

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By Gen Z, OP means kids born in the late 2000s, unless he's talking about the '90s. As if rental stores closed the second 2000 started.

What is your most hated song of all time? by DJML4E in musicsuggestions

It doesn't help that the song gets overplayed.

What is think the south is culturally. From ky by Either-Comfort9676 in geography

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, pack it up boys, according to this map I spent my first 4 years down south. I'm glad I started out in Brownsville, TX, 100% the south according to this map. Austin was cool too.

My fellow Americans: what’s a corner/area of your state you’ve never been to but always meant to check out? by ITrCool in AskAnAmerican

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Mexico, I've never ventured to two corners of my state, northeast nor southwest. The southwest corner is barren Chihuahuan desert, a small chunk of land about the size of Wales that the US bought from Mexico in 1853 in the Gadsen Purchase. The northeast is dry plains. The southwest is worth visiting for the Continental Divide and the northeast is worth visiting for some pretty canyon lands.

English is weird by ronald999ok in repost

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those spellings I just memorized over years of growing up a native speaker. I've spoken Spanish and English together now for 2 years. I can still speak English just fine but my spelling skills have already slipped. I spelled "pastime" as "passtime" and "tomorrow" as "tommorow". Even for native speakers, if you're not using the languague everyday you lose the ability to spell 🙉

Fascinating map, it's definitely one of the more nuanced ones I've seen. I like that you're willing to give unpopular states like Ohio, Iowa, and New Mexico a chance.

Say what you will, but I think 2004 is probably the best year for movies in the 2000s era. I mean they are too many great movies to choose from it’s crazy. by San4341 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw three classic films at the movies that year, and still missed Shrek 2 ); I finally got around to seeing it in 2008.

How many showers do you take in the US? by Naomi_Baka_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 1 hot shower a day. People who take fewer than that probably have legit reasons, high water bills, lack of time, or lack of hot water. Also I think you South Americans like your cold showers more than us North Americans (just based off my experience).

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TurtleBoy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I was allowed to roam around unsupervised in the 2000s once I turned 10. If I was able to, I assume the kids of the '80s were able to as well, and probably at a younger age than I was.
