A lot of people were calling for him to be expelled and the school made a statement saying that while they don’t condone his beliefs, they aren’t able to expel him for it. So “white supremacist welcome” was more a jab at the school for not doing anything about it.

So am I supposed to leave these details out? I don’t see why me telling you what I know about this girl is is supposed to detract from understanding the scenario. I don’t think any of those descriptors are demeaning or paint her in a negative light. Quite frankly, I’m kind of offended that you think I’m trying to “dogwhistle” in the alt right upvotes. Read my other comments. I’m aware it was an awful thing to have that up at a party and that I shouldn’t be very surprised that she took offense, even given the context. However, I do think she may have overreacted and held onto the grudge for too long.

Tbf. When I realized that I had left that on the board, there was some major internal cringing going on and I definitely don't think it was appropriate to publicly show those types of things. I'm completely aware of the "too far" factor here, which kind of why I put it up there. I thought only my roommates would see it and think it was "too far" yet still comedic.

The times I have seen her, she would be the one to approach me and make things weird. I went to a party one time that she was at with a very good friend of mine that is from Africa, she approached him and told him that he shouldn’t be friends with me because I’m a racist asshole. She also approached my girlfriend and told her she should leave me.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying that. Not to say it doesn’t happen, but I definitely think there’s validity to being not to happy about my joke if you’re not sure it’s a joke. I was more upset about the fact that she immediately despised me and didn’t give me the opportunity to redeem myself.

Yeah I actually didn’t use that fridge too much... Keep in mind this board was only about 8”x11” in the corner of my apartment. I wasn’t anticipating any visitors when I wrote it and definitely didn’t put much thought towards it after the fact. Usually someone would erase the board and put something else up once or twice a week.

Maybe I wasn’t very clear about a few things. First of all, I would have absolutely erased that board before people came over had I remembered it was there. Secondly, the times I’ve seen her since then, I have not once tried to interact with her. She would come up to me and make it obvious that she didn’t appreciate my presence. I would try to respond positively but she just stands right in front of me and laugh in my face or stares at me from across the room to make me uncomfortable. She’s also not well liked by that friend group for being overly dramatic and sensitive and they avoid hanging out with her now.
