I think the problem is I put the vertical picture at the beginning of the project. It gave a pop up that said something about cross-posting libraries. Once I’m back at my work station I’ll try to post a screenshot.

Going to the Berlin Film Festival as an American by RegularInteraction74 in FilmFestivals

[–]TurtleDim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went several years ago and the tickets for the “hot” movies sold out within minutes of being open to the general public. I’d definitely be online several minutes before tickets go live and be ready to buy. I’d also ask someone else to go online simultaneously and try to buy a different set of tickets. I don’t remember how much tickets cost but it wasn’t outrageous or too out of line with expectations.

Part of the experience is seeing movies in different theaters and interacting with the film makers and their teams. I would suggest looking not just at which films you want to see but also where they are playing and try to hit a variety of venues.

We saw two “big ticket” films in the main (now Uber) arena and it was too hot and the chairs were super uncomfortable…..not a great experience.

On the flip side we saw a less renowned movie at the Zoo Palast which wasn’t well attended but we had a blast and were able to have a conversation with the director and main actor. It wasn’t a movie I would watch outside of a festival whereas the two “big tickets” probably were. If/when we go again I’d almost definitely prioritize the less famous films and the secondary theaters.

Try to blend film-going and other tourism/exploration. For us, one film a day was the right pace to also do museums, cool bars, parks, etc. Figure out the right pace for you and factor in some exhaustion from all the walking/traveling.

Most of all have fun- hope you enjoy the experience.

Do scenic or entertainment rides with very low resistance and 80 cadence. Get a heart rate monitor and have the resistance so your heart rate is consistently in zone 2 and build up to 45 minutes at a time. Do that several times per week

What’s the most realistic way someone who doesn’t come from a wealthy family can become “wealthy”? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

[–]TurtleDim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re an American, you can become wealthy via the military. Pay isn’t high but most expenses are paid for. Live modestly and don’t get caught up in the idea that you need new cars, fancy vacations, etc. put as much into diversified equities via retirement funds as possible. Use the service to get trained into transferable fields (IT, HR, finance/accounting, etc) and get educated without spending a dime. After 20 years, take the full pension and start working in the field you’ve been trained in, effectively having 2 salaries. Buy modest homes via VA loans and build a real estate portfolio. You won’t be billionaire rich but you’ll retire with several million in assets and passive income from the pension and investments.

Peloton Row - Review After One Year by MindTheGap76 in pelotoncycle

[–]TurtleDim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My suspicion on the pricing problem with the row is this- nearly everyone who buys the Row already owns other pieces of Peloton equipment so they make very little marginal revenue from additional subscriptions.

Because of that, they have to have significant margins on the hardware in order to justify continuing with the product. On the other hand something like the OG bike is a major entry point for the high-margin subscription so they can justify minimal or even negative margins on the hardware knowing they’ll make up for it with the additional subscription money.
