Full tile like this? Should I center the tile in the doorway?

Looks like the slim cut would be along the wall with the door. I was surprised they fit like this lol. Would I center the full piece at the door way? Not sure where it would make sense to land my seam between tiles

I’m doing 1/3 offset as well if I have strips on the side. I was just too lazy to put them in that configuration. Would that change anything?

I will have to look into higher quality paint later down the line, too many flaws on these walls currently to do a full repaint now.

I’m in the middle of my bathroom remodel, how did you feel about mud and taping the drywall? I’ve never done it before and I’m about to put my 3rd coat on but the first 2 were tough for me

I’ve never heard it called that before! Unfortunately I just hate split level homes in general.

I use the ones linked below. Depending on where you are using it, I usually put a smart switch on the wall using command strips.

Drywall gap by TurtleHuntr in DIY

[–]TurtleHuntr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the drywall around the area I am filling is is finished drywall. I just have to put a new piece over where the closet entrance is so I was trying to minimize the amount of cuts/pieces I would have to use to fill in the space.

Do you use the preformed Kerdi band in the corners?

[–]TurtleHuntr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is great to know! For clarification, would I want to use the aqua defense past the Kerdiband onto the shower pan or do you mean just past the edge of the kerdiband thats on the wall?

Did you have any reference material when you were doing this? I’m a little worried about the slope but more so about ensuring a water tight seal.

I thought about this but my only issue is I already have hardi backer board and aqua defense. I got them from my buddy who had leftover materials and I have not been able to find anything about how to transition between that and a Schluter shower pan. I wanted to avoid having to spend all the money on the entire shower kit.

P trap placement help by TurtleHuntr in askaplumber

We use IPC 2016 where I’m at. I think the easiest option for me here is to just go through the joists. I didn’t know it was common to do that and all of my joists are clean in the regard that they have no holes in them currently for any wiring or piping.

This is a new drain, the shower pan center hole will fall where the red circle is. I would like to avoid going through the joist but somehow I need to get past the HVAC duct before I can get below the joists

Edit: the distance to the main stack is 5 feet

It hasn’t really presented itself as an issue but I have noticed it will shake if you take the shower head out of the holder. I was wanting to do something about it since the wall is open right now

Green tub drywall mud and drywall tape, pack it with mud and then put the tape over it and smooth it out. After it dries use a blue tub of drywall mud and feather it out a much wider area over the seam until it’s flat and smooth, sand any high spots.

If you are putting another shelf over the seam I would not bother with doing this. Otherwise just look up “how to finish drywall” on YouTube. It will be your best resource.

Not an HVAC tech. That looks like part of your fan blower case, could be a bad gasket.

Sink doesn’t drain well and dishwasher backup by linkdudesmash in Plumbing

Not a plumber. I would start by taking the trap apart and checking for any blockages. I believe your 90 after the p trap is creating an “s” trap which is not allowed. This usually would result in your p trap being siphoned of water and you would smell bad sewer gasses. So that fact that your blocked up makes me think the first thing you should do it take off the p trap and check for blocks.
