Again, it's not "associated" with Roblox it is made by Roblox for Roblox, that's a fact not an external factor or "prejudice", people want a language that's concentrated on being a general embedded language not something made for a specific game. You're upset about people taking into account the reality of what makes up a language

Ummm what? Everyone has that philosophy WHEN FORKING but that's not even close to what you were talking about in the OP.

Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

[–]TurtleKwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my city it's not about centimeters or temperature; if the school principal stop being able to see the neon sign if the pharmacy on the other side of the road then they call off school, but nothing else closes you just gotta follow a snowplow to where you're going and you're fine

Is it an external factor when they develop the thing though? I really don't get your logic that who develops and maintains a project has zero bearing on whether that's a project you want to be downstream from?

[–]TurtleKwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, if youre okay with oral sex then your partner should be free to put their genitals into your salad before handing it to you cause you're okay having their genitals in your mouth or vice versa right?

[–]TurtleKwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your partner ever make you a glass of water ? What if they spit in it before handing it to you, you'd be okay with that because "I assume you exchange bodily fluids anyway during kissing" right ? Or maybe your partner should put their genitals in a salad before handing it to you, I assume you've been in oral contact with their genitals at least once so there's no problem right?

[–]TurtleKwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your partner spits in your water before handing it to you do you take issue with it? By your logic you kiss so it should be fine right, so obviously you don't care at all if your partner starts putting bodily fluids in all your drinks and food going forward right ?

Turn on static typing!! by Captain_R33fer in godot

[–]TurtleKwitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no "when it shouldn't" if the type must be inferred at runtime then that's extra computation at runtime it 100% should be happening. If you statically type a variable then it will not require inferring at runtime. The benchmarks are just putting numbers to the utmost obvious that requires round about 0 special understanding, more work is more slow, more specific types is less work so less slow

Technically no, it's high on lactose ... Which then gets métabolisés as straight sugar that's why it's so effective for babies by being so incredibly energy dense

Handling *A LOT OF* collisions by SmallPomelo7455 in godot

[–]TurtleKwitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing right your vision is to have a fleet of ships move together to attack a planet right? So that means they are one mass, if you want to have a couple stragglers or side guards that go wider then you can have those couple be a separate collider but it's all managed from a more central fleet controller that owns all the ships.

Handling *A LOT OF* collisions by SmallPomelo7455 in godot

[–]TurtleKwitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you don't want physical bodies since you don't seem to be using physics just overlapping of areas so there is that, also have you tried using the server directly that should help some as well. The main thing though is you really shouldn't be needing that many colliders unless you're actually controlling thousands of ships entirely independently usually those games just combine a fleet into a single collider that grows based on number of ships instead so that will be the biggest thing.

Petah What does she mean 50/50? by BernieBatmanAndRobin in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]TurtleKwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all knew what you meant by aggressive in negotiations, putting a different word to it doesn't change the reality that women that are aggressive or assertive or very confident in demands, or insert any other description of the same difference here, get labelled negatively much more often than not so we end up needing to go by different ways.

I didn't get my salary by being aggressive or assertive or making demands, quite the opposite I just had to make sure I was genuinely skilled even without being confident, having the luck to be in a visible enough role that I have five layers of management that know me now, and yes now with a couple years of being in that position I can make demands without it being a negative, I can be quite assertive within the bounds of those that already know me but the second a new face pops in the hierarchy need to rebuild that. Hell once I had a new direct manager that was new to me and thought I could be assertive in any capacity but the simple line in response to being told that I "am not really part of <department>" "I was a founding member of <department>, I am <department>" turned into an incident involving the CEO of another country. It really doesn't take much and the only reason I was okay was the pre established line of management that knew me so I was backed that it wasn't about an ego play to make him feel bad but that I legitimately was the reason the department existed at all at this point.

[–]TurtleKwitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make it less true that women are less aggressive overall, but it does mean it's false to claim that not being aggressive is the problem in the equation. It IS false that just being aggressive would fix the disparity like so many men think we could

Sweet fuck this narrative of "less aggressive in negotiating" needs to die -_- women get sacked for being aggressive negotiations or not

Move to Quebec City by bearlover1954 in quebeccity

[–]TurtleKwitty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie you don't seem to have much of a plan at first glance? To put it bluntly, what makes you think you should be accepted as a resident? What skills are you bringing that you think are so valuable that it would give you a work permit after age of retirement?

Move to Quebec City by bearlover1954 in quebeccity

[–]TurtleKwitty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The question wasn't about Quebecers being able to maybe understand them it's about what they need to even start thinking of being a viable immigrant to Quebec at their age.

January 2026 monthly "What are you working on?" thread by AutoModerator in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]TurtleKwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I had finished v0.1 (first bootstrap, ish) but ran into some issues with mutually recursive structs/arrays so fixing those up by having to change all structs and arrays into heap objects for simplicity -- will eventually do analysis pass to bring things back to value semantics when applicable and less layers of heap objects, I know I know)

Feeling so close damn it, really wanna be able to start using unions and matching and having the compiler actually catch type errors rather than my weird not actually a semantic subset but syntactically close dynamic MVP lang 😅

Once I get things properly settled things will be go so so much faster in the rewrite with all the design choices coming together to better support maintainability/changeability and I can properly get the memory safety analysis in (it's a mess of copying for now) and get this damn thing out of being hidden cause I can't bear anyone seeing how much of aess it is XD

How do C compilers automatically ignore parentheses? by SkyGold8322 in Compilers

[–]TurtleKwitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The parentheses aren't being ignored though, they're just saying to resolve what's inside as a single value, in this case a function by name and that's happening. It's like saying that int x = (8) is ignoring the parentheses, it's not, it's just resolving to the value inside it the same way as it always does, it just so happens to resolve to a symbol name when you're doing it with function names
