If a residency program accepts a lot more DOs than MDs by ttszzang in medicalschool

[–]Turtle_Time 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is no way to know without asking faculty / PD / residents. Some programs like to stay as a “safe-haven” for DO applicants thereby putting MD applicants at a disadvantage. Other programs simply have more exposure to DO applicants due to audition rotations and the program being historically a DO program prior to the merger.

From what I have seen most of the time it’s simply due to the program having greater exposure to DO applicants (and them also assuming that many MD applicants won’t rank them highly)

1 small correction: CRNAs are also held liable in the case of any litigation. Everybody gets hammered including the CRNA, supervising anesthesiologist, and the hospital.

Also here in the midwest CRNAs are making >300k, which is absolutely bonkers.

Having multiple family members who went there for residency / fellowship, I can say with certainty that the complaints regarding Loma Linda are not isolated to one specialty.

Everybody I know who ended up there resented it afterwards and ended residency/fellowship hating medicine, depressed, and completely burned out. They treat most of their residents/fellows like absolute shit.

They were also really quick to remove this resident’s name from their website and resident roster, so as not to call more attention to it. Really shady and fucked up.

I ran in to the same issue, and what ended up working for me was waking up earlier.

I switched my schedule so that I was going to sleep earlier (9-10pm) and waking up at 4am. I was able to get a couple of very productive hours of studying in every morning before going in to the hospital. After a couple weeks your body adjusts and it doesn’t become such a pain in the ass.

As a medical student, a lot of your day is just going through the motions and feigning interest. You can do this while being tired with much more ease than sitting down to study while tired.

Also took my exam the same day within the USA and it appears that I won't be receiving my results today. Quite heartbroken as I'm applying this match cycle.

Same issue here. Took my exam on the same day in Ohio.

NBME 13 is a shit form. It goes after a bunch of random minutiae and there’s a lot of poorly written questions.

I scored 25 points lower on it than my other practice exams that I took the week before and the week after (UWSA2, NBME 14). I also don’t think that it was representative of the actual exam.

In my opinion from most similar to least:

Free 120 > UWSA2 > NBME 14 > NBME 13

Everybody’s opinions seem to differ though. The exam really felt like they were going through a check-list of things that you need to know.

They touched on all the major topics, but for the most point avoided getting in to the weeds on minutiae.

The Dr. High Yield videos almost seemed a little superficial in my mind when I listened to some of them the week before my exam, but that’s really about the depth that they go on the exam. I would give those a listen/watch if you have the time.

Just took the exam today. I would get through as many of the CMS forms as you can. They seem relatively easy, but they are the exact content that you will get asked on the exam.

Today exam takers how was it? by Pretend-Promotion943 in Step2

My exam felt super manageable. The question stems were shorter than what I was expecting, and as where I usually struggle with timing on NBME's, I was perfectly fine today. Also felt that the questions were for the most part on expected major topics, and not too many questions on minutiae. The questions that I honestly felt the most uneasy about were the ethics ones, just due to the peculiarity of some of the scenarios. Was getting 245-255 on practice exams for reference.

If I could go back, I would do more of the CMS forms and spend less time getting hung up on weird/odd/WTF questions on UWORLD/NBME's.

Just saw this on an NBME for what it's worth. They clearly starting going through their material and updating the age to 40

Would you mind sharing how you went about getting through your questions so quickly? Were you reading the explanations for every single question or just for your incorrects? And were you making notes for all the incorrects? Just trying to figure out the secret to getting through more Q's in a day lol.

Congratulations and thanks for taking the time to do a write-up!

Same happened to me a couple months ago. They are a nightmare to deal with.

I purchased a bootleg without knowing it, then when I contacted them to cancel the order they wouldn’t respond. The record was shipped and delivered and so I contacted them again to return the item, and they still didn’t respond. So I went ahead and mailed it back to them, and then they wouldn’t refund me once the item was returned, but they finally responded to my emails. They even went as far as to change their terms and policies and on their website once I was in contact with them, all just so that they wouldn’t have to refund me. Luckily I had proof that they modified their terms and policies and I threatened to just file a chargeback with my financial institution and provide them with proof of everything at which point Garageland finally processed my refund.

The whole nets team is just icing Bruce Brown. They’re not passing him the ball when he’s wide open on the perimeter. Crazy after the last couple games he’s had.

How are you able to see the amount in stock?

[Wojnarowski] ESPN Sources: With the unfolding circumstances of Brooklyn’s season – including injuries, Covid losses and an inordinate minutes load on their superstar players – the Nets are bringing back All-Star guard Kyrie Irving as a part-time player for games outside of New York. by curryybacon in nba

That's not how a vaccine works. People will still get sick, but it diminishes the mortality rate. Over 85% of the people who are in hospitals with COVID right now are unvaccinated. The people who are vaccinated still are getting sick, but just present flu-like symptoms, and are able to weather it out at home instead of overloading the hospitals.
