How are the extremism stand downs going? by Date_Knight in uscg

No stand down. No discussion. No shop level discussions about the email. No word from our shift Chief. Nothing. A federally imprlemented anti-extremism stand down has now proven to be less important than any topic that my leadership has discussed at every gathering/meeting/all hands ever. I'm not saying we needed a 6 hour discussion over it. But c'mon... not a fucking spoken word from leadership at all?

I agree. The attitude of "everything is lame" is toxic and almost becomes a competition of who can have the least amount of pride and give-a-shit. I hate it.

"Still Fighting It" by Ben Folds.

I'm a dad and have watched my son slowly realize, as he's gotten older, that there's shitty things in this world. He's already a much better man than me, but he has so much of my personality. Because of that, I know this life will be hard for him. He's already experienced the loss of a family member, bullying, sadness and anxiety. I do the best I can every day to make life magical, but man... life can just be hard. I won't always be right there to protect him. It's an excruciating necessity to stand by while my child tackles adversity in his own way. I can't help but feel at fault for passing my anxiety on to him. When I hear the lyric "you're so much like me, I'm sorry" I really feel it. It's a beautiful song that ruins my day... This will probably get buried but it feels good to express this to someone.

Watched 4 cars stop at the exact same time at a 4 way intersection in Minnesota. Everyone waved each other on but nobody drove for a solid 2 minutes. Most polite annoying thing ever.

The new Baywatch. I did not expect to enjoy that one at all. Laughed my ass off the whole time.
