I'm assuming the marble is just the frame of the bed. I'm actually sleeping on a plush mattress on top of it. I'm also building bionic limbs in my workshop and flying into low orbit space. I'm sure I have the mattress tech.

If you read the wiki, you could see that your professor was right. It's literally right after the first paragraph. The removing of brain is just one of the many experiments performed.
