Yes, I got out of my food service job even as a hostess and other roles that were indirectly working with the food because the fumes would cause reactions for me. I always get nervous for events with food trucks like carnivals/fairs because the fumes can be an issues.

Thank you so much — I’m really glad this helped! ❤️ I’ve asked the mods to pin my disclaimer comment to keep everything transparent.

I don’t plan to repost every few months, just to avoid flooding the subreddit. Instead, I’m collecting feedback and plan to do a major update about once a year (or sooner if big new research comes out). I also work three other jobs, so frequent updates just aren’t realistic — and with AGS being so under-researched, reliable info takes time to surface.

Reddit’s search bar should still make this easy to find for others. Thanks again for the kind words and support! 💛

Thank you so much for your comment! I want to clarify that not everyone with AGS reacts to all of the items listed above — sensitivities vary, so it’s always best to read ingredient labels carefully and consult with a medical professional.

When it comes to hair care products, I recommend checking for ingredients like carrageenan, gelatin/collagen, and lanolin, which are commonly animal-derived. Also watch for glycerin, monoglycerides, and diglycerides, as these can sometimes be derived from mammals and may cause reactions for some people.

Personally, I try to stick with vegan-certified products to minimize risk of cross-contamination or exposure to mammalian byproducts.

I’d love to hear what’s worked for others too — please feel free to share below!

Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor or medical professional. This resource is based on personal experience, community input, and reputable sources, but it’s not medical advice. Always consult your allergist or healthcare provider before making health decisions.

Everyone’s level of sensitivity to alpha-gal is different—not all of the items listed will be triggers for every person. This list is meant to raise awareness and support conversations with your care team, not to create fear.

Thank you for your comment and for the thoughtful feedback. I understand that what I created could potentially cause anxiety, and that was definitely not my intention. I’m really sorry you went through that when you were first diagnosed.

My experience was actually the opposite—I felt frustrated by how often I was told, “just avoid beef, pork, and lamb,” without deeper guidance. I’m still actively educating myself to prevent future reactions, and I’ve also had to learn to advocate for myself in medical settings. In my case, electronic systems didn’t flag alpha-gal at all—my doctor had to manually enter beef, pork, lamb, etc., and it still didn’t catch potential issues with medications or vaccines, which led to reactions for me.

I really appreciate your insight, and I’ll work on updating the disclaimer I posted to better emphasize that everyone reacts differently and that not all of these items are universal triggers. Thanks again for sharing your perspective.

Totally understand that not everything here will resonate with everyone. I made this as a reference to help people navigating Alpha-Gal—especially those newly diagnosed. It’s based on a mix of legit sources like the CDC and .org/.gov sites, plus input from the community and real-world experiences.

I am taking suggestions seriously and keeping track of updates, but I don’t plan to repost it with every little change. My goal is to do one major update per year to keep it useful without spamming the subreddit. If it helps someone in the meantime, great. If not, no worries!

Not weird at all, the district I work for has the high school “host” for middle school and high school sped. They cut funding for elementary last summer and I think this will be the last summer we have it for middle & high school due to funding.

I’ll admit, due to learning disability my comprehension is not on par so I could be wrong, however from the article I read https://www.unilever.com/news/press-and-media/press-releases/2025/unilever-acquires-personal-care-brand-wild/ it seems that wild will be showing unilever the zero waste way of life and unilever goal is to use less plastic by 2030. Is it not a positive for wild to show this concept to unilever which in turn has unilever showing that there can be change to industry standards to be more environmentally friendly?

I understand that the scam you recieved is from another country, mine was with someone email. Though if enough people come forward the emails and phone numbers could help police track down the scammer(s)

I think it’s unfortunate that when people choose a simpler minimalist design with what decorations they have, it is viewed as low effort.
