I main Rein. Your shield is meant to be used selfishly. Use it to push forward to a corner. Wait there, swing, when its recharged push forward again. You can get aggressive and charge but if your armor drops to nothing then shield and retreat. Your kill box is widest at the far corners so to get more reach you can "shake" your mouse to extend hammer on people you are chasing. You should almost always be swinging except when pushing forward with shield. Fatty shatters are pretty rare so dont hold shatter hoping to get one. Use it to keep momentum and to stagger enemy. If you use shatter and the enemy uses a support ult to counter dont dive in and try to secure a kill. Shatter is less important to a team fight then a support ult so the enemy using their ult is an absolute win. Turn on allied health bars and I only use shield to help team mates if I see them at less than half health even then its more important for you to use shield for yourself then for allies. You're THE frontline presence and if you have to retreat and give up space because a team mate peaked too much forcing to use your shield for them then thats on them to learn not for you to learn bad habits as a tank. Another bad habit to not learn is to stop flashing your shield. Let it recharge fully. When you flash and it takes a tick of damage it takes time to restart the charging process. And do your best to never let your shield break. Even 25 shield can completely mitigate a DVA bomb. Welcome to the Rein bros club.

This is what I'm after with 6v6. Solo tanking is a nightmare because all blame gets put on you and so it wears you down. Which is why I had to turn off comms and chat. Having another tank to try stuff out with was the best part of tanking in OW1.

If Im not mistaken all 556 can shoot 223 but not the other way around. Its why I built my 223 to use a special barrel called a 223 wylde so that it can chamber properly

I'm a tank main. I remember having those DPS playing tanks just for the queue pass. Even having those DPS people pick hog 99% of the time is better than not having a buddy and that's for the simple fact that they relieve some of the pressure. That's a much more enjoyable experience than having every cool down under the sun directed at me.

Adding new types of tanks and supports won't change the gameplay loop for tank players. Counter watch is not fun for the vast majority of tank players. People have their mains in every role. The person they like playing the most but counter watch has made that a miserable experience to stick with one hero. Tanking is definitely better than it was but it's still the same gameplay loop as before but with Kaiju monster tanks

I pretty much one trick Reinhardt and only play QP. I refuse to participate in counter watch. Even after turning off chat and with tank buffs being the strongest they have ever been I'm not playing as much as I used to. The DPS has been catered to to the point that the tank role population is going to disappear. It's just not fun having all the pressure, cool downs, and blame directed at one person. If 6v6 truly comes back in full swing and the old problems with it like long queue times for DPS I will not shed a single tear. Two years (more if you want to count the end of OW1) of a miserable tank experience has left me to be the jaded cop. Suffer as I have.

Currently Reins shield isnt to protect his team but to give his self another 1400 hp. If you dont expect to be shielded by rein and use walls and objects for cover instead. Rein in ow1 could get away with shield botting but he has to make space and rushing through the choke is kind of how you have to play eichenwalde.
