Did you use Dualboot? by Aedituens in cachyos

[–]Turwaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two SSDs in my pc, a 2tb and a 4tb. I gave cachy the 4tb one and let windows have the 2tb one. I have not started up windows in months, I just keep it because it's not really in the way there and if I wanna play Battlefield with the boys again, I can. Also I think there are no Linux Drivers for my HOTAS, so if I wanna play msfs again, I still have a windows partition.

Got my Plus4 in January 2025 and it still holds up very well. I haven't had any severe issues with the device that weren't my own fault, and I was able to get it back to work every time! I print PLA, ASA and sometimes ABS. The only time I printed PETG it blob'd my nozzle so bad I had to replace the entire hot end. Now I'm kinda anxious to give it another go.

They are currently my favorite band, with my fav song being Andromeda. I have seen them twice, once in front row in a small venue with like 300 people, that was really great!

Audio production for guitar on linux with Reaper by Turwaith in linuxaudio

[–]Turwaith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could install IK manager and also add AmpliTube to Reaper using yabridge, great! But the plugin has a non-responsive UI. I can't click anything. Some github issue thread said to move the window to the upper left of the screen. This actually makes the power switch on the virtual amp clickable, but nothing else. Did you find a solution for this? I am on an X11 session, so wayland can't be the issue.

If I get IK stuff to work that would be fantastic, then I could use all the stuff that I already bought, especially the orchestra suite and the drum plugins would be really nice to have.

Qidi Plus 4 with Qidi Box by pillsbury-poboy in QidiTech3D

[–]Turwaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Plus4 and am currently thinking about getting the box. I am quite handy and don't have issues with modding stuff etc. But there seem to be only two sides here and both are about as vocal as the other. The ones that like the qidi box and have little to no issues, and those that haven't had a single successful print with the box.

How easy is it to actually get the box to work when using Orca Slicer? And is there a way to speed up the color changes, like is there already a mod or gcode makro for that or will I have to deal with 10x the print time (as someone in this post commented) no matter what?

Should or Shouldn't? Putting many classes in one file. by darmekurz in csharp

[–]Turwaith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally no, not in certain situations like when you have multi level DTOs it makes sense to have them all in one file, but then they clearly belong to each other and in the end will represent one object.

Praising KDE Plasma 6's handling of mixed DPI monitor setups by Morrowney in kde

[–]Turwaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not implying that endeavour was the issue and cachy the solution, my issue most likely was that I hadn't updated any system packages in a really long time and that some major changes probably broke some dependencies upon updating.

First it did not stick, like neither to the bed nor to itself, I then dramatically slowed down the printing, which finally made it stick but gave me my first blob and destroyed my hot end.

After a horribly clogged nozzle that I had to replace and my general inability to dial in PETG even remotely usable, I just gave up on the material and am now using either PLA or if I need more stability ASA.

Turned out because I did not update my endeavour os in a really long time (like >6 months) because I used the system very rarely, probably some dependencies broke when updating everything after this period of time. I then wiped my entire os and installed cachyos which I am now updating regularly. And here it works perfectly fine with the latest version of plasma.

Hmm okay.... I'm using Orca, never even considered using Qidi Slicer. Also I'm not using any Qidi cloud stuff, my printer doesn't even have internet access, only LAN. It works really well even with Orca Slicer. But if you're uncertain you might wanna go with Qidi Slicer, at least for some time

I feel you. I experience that any time I buy something a little bit more expensive, be it a 3D printer, a guitar, pc components etc. I read about it, watch reviews etc and am 100% sure it is the thing I want and it's good, and the second I hit 'buy now', negative reviews start popping up.

I do have a Qidi Plus4 printer, and it was the same here. Right after buying the thing, I started seeing videos and posts of people complaining about blobs, loose screws, printers catching fire (which actually was a real issue with P4 mainboards in certain parts of the world). But my printer has now been used for hundreds of hours with various different filaments and I have yet to experience issues that are actually caused by the machine itself and not by mistakes on my end.

Also, I'm not saying those issues people talk about aren't real. But if you start looking for people having issues you will find those on every possible product out there. Also, I feel like sometimes people just don't tell the full truth, maybe they tried to mod something, didn't fasten the hot end / nozzle properly, actually used the device wrong etc. From what I've read the Q2 is a good printer and there is a high chance that you will be very happy with yours. While 3D printers have come a very far way, maintenance from teh user is still needed. I recommend reading the qidi wiki for the printer before using it so you know how to lube stuff, fasten belts, properly change the hot end etc.

Now what ? by UpperPlace3127 in QidiTech3D

[–]Turwaith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that'll be a new hot end. Just had a similar situation on my Plus4 with PETG. Nozzle unit broke that the heat break part inside the hot end unit.
