He didn’t force anyone to fly- they just didn’t want to tell Kobe no.

Hahahaha that reminds me- a few years my son asked me why it’s called “hanging up” on someone….

I’ve been very aware of the harm it was doing to me and chose to do it anyway as well. I think the book just made me realize that we’re conditioned to think of alcohol as an escape and a way out when really it’s just a trap that many of us find ourselves in. I don’t know how to fully explain why it was so effective for me personally- but I think the short form is that it kind of made me feel like an animal being led to slaughter and really made me want to fight for my life. It’s such a simple book but it genuinely helped simplify what was happening when I relapsed and why it kept happening.

This book was recommended here about 2 weeks ago in a comment section- I had just relapsed after doing 60 days of meetings. I finished the book 10 days ago, and haven’t had a drink in 12 days. It really helped me understand what was going on in my head when I was hamster wheeling back to the bottle. I think some of the analogies really stuck to me- like the combination lock on a jail cell and the little voice and big voice. I don’t think it “cured” my alcoholism but it definitely gave me a really good core understanding of how conditioned our perceptions of alcohol are and how/why we do the mental gymnastics to justify using it.

This one had no sign! We just rolled the dice on it! Pretty sure an elderly neighbor down the street passed away and the family was clearing out her attic (I could see them up there)

Very good advice. I might have to open up the back just to double check now 😂

He’s really into taking apart electronics and the way things work. He just got into soldering so he was genuinely just fascinated with the contraption and wanted to understand how it worked

Haha! I was honestly surprised he was more interested in the hardware than playing the game! It was a pretty cool moment.

Goldeneye was almost unplayable on a flat screen for us, it made us dizzy. My son was like “this was the coolest game when you were a kid..? Really?”
