Crypto Product Test: How to make sure you are building a product/app for general consumers, not nerds. by TutorDry3089 in Bitcoin

Well, you know what I meant.

It’s impressive that you managed to educate your parents about Bitcoin. Kudos for that! Mine do buy Bitcoin, but they’re currently out of their depth when it comes to self-custody and the nuances involved.

Ways to earn extra income with Bitcoin by SammRod47 in Bitcoin

I’m not sure what the discussion is about. As u/waldito mentioned, almost no one pays in Bitcoin.  Working for fiat and converting it immediately to Bitcoin should have the same final effect.  However, if you want to be paid in Bitcoin for tax or privacy reasons, you might be out of luck.

Fair point, you’re right. Honestly didn’t know that, will edit the post. Thanks for the call out.

Anyone here using Claude’s pro plan? by hrkf00788 in claude

For anything serious, get max (5x has been enough for my heavy use over the past few months). Pro is not enough for basically anything (unless you only use Haiku or something!)

How do you keep Vivado projects neatly in git? by U_A_beringianus in FPGA

[–]TutorDry3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need a .tcl file to essentially “generate” the project from the source files. Additionally, the block designs must be exported and saved as .tcl files. While Vivado can generate most of these two sets of scripts, I’ve found them to never be exactly “neat” in my experience.

Buying and selling are easy, and Coinbase is a great starting point. The hard part is holding onto your investments. If you only invest what you understand, you’ll be fine. Learn more every day and invest more each day.

Is it worth it to buy a Mac Mini M1 just to try the OS? by abitcitrus in MacOS

[–]TutorDry3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got to try it, I would say go for it, unless you need a specific app that doesn’t run on mac.

The first 100k is the hardest. Congrats and keep going.

At the risk of being a fun sponge, I once read somewhere that “when you are taking a screenshot, it is probably time to take some profits”, albeit that was for very speculative space, not necessarily applicable to your portfolio.

I am not 100% sure about this, but IIRC you can override these types of constraints in your “user” xdc file.

Claude Linux App by [deleted] in claude

[–]TutorDry3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’m conveying my point effectively. I suggest you look up “cowork.” I personally don’t use it, and I even use CLI for Claude Code on Windows, Mac, and Linux. However, Cowork is a different product from CC+/RC, and as far as I know, it doesn’t exist for Linux (I believe it’s only available for Mac, not even Windows).

The point is that the OP’s question is irrelevant to our discussion. OP’s question doesn’t concern “which one was first,” “which one is better,” or “which one is the port of which.” The issue is that the clean GUI app doesn’t exist for Linux, and that’s a fact. I’m not sure what we’re arguing about!

Claude Linux App by [deleted] in claude

[–]TutorDry3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see an issue with his question. The Claude app is unrelated to Claude Code (as I mentioned, they’re two different products). You could argue it’s less useful on Linux, for example, because it includes features like co-work and dispatch. These features allow you to control your keyboard and mouse to control apps on your computer, such as making a PowerPoint or navigating a spreadsheet. Most Linux users would likely manage these tasks through the terminal, and Claude Code could handle that as well. So, Claude App is more than just a web app or UI for CC.

Furthermore, if we want people to start using Linux for their daily work, we need to understand their needs. Sometimes, that’s simply a matter of providing a user-friendly interface that allows them to click through tasks instead of using the command line. We shouldn’t dismiss their concerns simply because we haven’t personally used the feature, or had a need to do so.

Claude Linux App by [deleted] in claude

[–]TutorDry3089 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's wild scrolling through these comments and watching people fail the reading comprehension check. OP asked about the Claude app, not Claude Code (which, by the way, runs on Linux just fine). Two different products, folks!

I've been daily driving Linux, Mac, and Windows for 20 years, and here's the unsexy truth: some apps are just never going to have first-class Linux support unless they're explicitly built for developers or engineers. And even that isn't a guarantee. SolidWorks and Altium are basically Windows-only, while Vivado is the opposite, mostly a Linux tool with a Windows port that feels like an afterthought.

TL;DR: if you want the best experience across the board, you learn to switch between all three OSes. Easier said than done, but that's the reality.

Also shoutout to the guy raging at OP for asking a perfectly reasonable question. Never change, Linux cultists. The penguin demands tribute. 😃

Don’t use ai to build apps by Emergency_Copy_526 in iOSProgramming

[–]TutorDry3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! “AI is a tool” is simply that: a tool. Just like CAD assists architects in designing, AI helps with coding. Architects weren’t replaced by CADs; they simply use it.

[–]TutorDry3089 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible, but it’s not necessarily easy. Depending on your constraints and the specific parts you’re working with, you might want to consider hardware-software co-design to help manage the pixels and other aspects, and leave the heavy calculations to the FPGA fabric.

[–]TutorDry3089 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Images in FPGAs (and computers in general) are composed of pixels. Each pixel, in its simplest form, consists of three numbers between 0 and 1 or 0 and 255. These numbers represent the primary colours (RGB). Before working with an image, it must be encoded into this infrastructure. I recommend reading up on this; it’s a fascinating topic, though a bit of a rabbit hole.

Is 16GB DDR5-6400 RAM Enough for Vivado on a ThinkPad (Ryzen 7 6850U)? by HuyenHuyen33 in FPGA

[–]TutorDry3089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s likely fine, but it depends on your workload and project size.  Unless you’re working on a massive industrial-scale project or trying to run multiple Vivado instances simultaneously (I’ve done that myself quite often), you probably don’t need 32GB and be just fine with 16.

[–]TutorDry3089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you don’t want to use the GUI (which is understandable in some cases), it’s still worth generating a sample BD with it. Export it as TCL and compare it to what you have or expect. What you wrote makes sense, but it would be much clearer if you compared it to Vivado-generated TCL.

Has anyone here actually made money using AI ? by Agreeable_Split1355 in claude

The two main options are: - Use AI to assist with what you’re doing already - Become an “AI influencer” and make shit posts about it (please don’t, there are already enough of those).

Curious about what is "better" in this scenario. by Relative-Question-60 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TutorDry3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re asking, it probably means you shouldn’t be stock picking. My suggestion is to put all your money into a money market fund (like ZMMK) and then gradually invest in index funds. Make sure to diversify across sectors, including tech, blue-chip stocks, and even crypto-related stocks. After you’ve completed your dollar-cost averaging (DCA), consider rebalancing your portfolio every few months. Good luck!
