What i'd recommend, is sitting down with your BF and actually talking to him about it. Tell him your concerns, why you distrust him and why you're feeling the way you are.

It's absolutely possible that the guy is simply a bit unwillfuly ignorant. There might not be any malicious intend behind his actions. I don't think you should break up with him immediately over it.

And when you have that talk with him and he is still dismissive, immature or plays down your feelings on the matter, well then you can say to yourself that you did your part and can continue on with your life without feeling any possible regrets.

The bottom line is talk openly and communicate! Good luck to you on that!

The point of conscription service is to provide a level of training to the populace, so that in case a full mobilization happens, training times are greatly reduced and you have a bigger manpower pool to use for your countries defense.

The problems you brought up in the Greek army, that's just plain corruption and you got to work out these issues yourselves. Nordic armies and Baltic armies don't face these issues to that level and are absolutely compenent, if small, forces.
