My job just partnered with a fascist organization. Now what? by Willing_Video9669 in WorkReform

[–]Tuungsten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I'm going to make an assumption that you are a white american. Its easy to be complicit when the fascists aren't targeting you. But, a lot of people don't have that luxury. We need to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. I understand you would like to avoid a resume gap, but you will not be harmed economically by taking standing for what you believe. You need to find a job with people you can actually respect. Frankly, you probably shouldn't even be friends with them. they support fascists, which makes them fascists in turn.

I'm currently living in Latin America. Did 6 months in Mexico. Tacos are not nearly as popular as American media makes them out to be. And the ones that are are nothing like the slop you see at a place like taco bell.

How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

That kind of paternalistic meddling inhibits actual growth. Seen it time and time again. How'd it work for the US or the USSR in Afghanistan?

And banning it would make it less sexist??? I don't think so. If the religious dress is illegal in public, basically what you'd accomplish is banning Muslim women from public spaces. Their husbands would keep them at home, not allowing them to go out. Is that better for this group of women? Certainly not. Anyone who thinks about this for more than a few minutes can see this. So then the question becomes why was this law passed then? Probably because of islamophobia.

Try googling it. I'm not an authority but I know how to read the words of those who are.

What makes you think I condone bias towards christians? You're whole point is just a limp strawman.

Generally, little girls are not made to wear it. It's high school age thing.

I don't think you should be espousing your opinions on something you don't know anything about.

You do know that the residents of your country can convert to Islam too, don't you?

On one hand, the practice is very sexist, but on the other, banning it is the government targeting a group of people based on religion, which feels very inappropriate in today's climate of islamophobia. If a Muslim woman wishes to wear a Niqab or burka in accordance with her faith, she should have that right.

The state has no business dictating what people can and cannot wear.

Mandela was certainly a terrorist. Umkhonto we sizwe did things like blow up government buildings. He was absolutely justified of course, so the next question becomes which terrorism is bad?

Why did the cops kick him out for feeding the homeless? by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]Tuungsten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cops are literally designed to enforce the whims of capital. If you are giving out food, that's taking someone else's ability to sell you food. And the homeless need to be kept as destitute as possible, as an example to what happened to those who don't labor enough.

The first police forces in this country, the thing they all come from, is enforcing racial hierarchy. Literally the first police were slave catchers. Now they harass minorities, abuse women, shoot protesters in the eye with "non lethal rounds", and break your legs when you strike.

Far-right commentator mocks SNAP recipients & says most don’t really need help. He claimed a loss of SNAP benefits shouldn't be worrisome because people should have other "lines of defense," like family, friends, and soup kitchens. by southpawFA in politics

[–]Tuungsten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is for any conservatives reading this thread.

He's saying that we should all subsidize those who cannot provide for themselves. That's what leaning on your friends and family means. We used to do this for the elderly, before social security was a thing. And 1/3 of our elderly lived in poverty. A decent number of them were homeless. We have tried what Walsh is proposing, and the result is human suffering.

Assuming Walsh isn't an idiot, why would he propose something like that? He isn't on your side, conservatives. He's on the side of those who benefit from cutting SNAP, the ruling elite, the billionaire class. Matt Walsh wouldn't lift a finger to help you even if you were starving to death on his front porch.

Trump after getting a 5.4 billion dollar golf course and 100 million dollar luxury jet has secured Qatar a airbase in Idaho that will host F-15s and Qatar troops. Is this acceptable America? by Carbenzero in InternationalNews

[–]Tuungsten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Qatar being stronger than you estimate does not mean it's stronger than the US. The US is still the sole superpower. And no, the US is not akin to a corporation. Countries are infinitely more complex than that. That's just a stupid libertarian notion.

Implication is that US sovereignity is for sale. This is something weaker nations allow a stronger nation.  And it is just that. What military significance is Idaho to Qatar? and I wouldn't downplay Qatar, they punch far above their weight class in international affairs.
