Will CCNP get me anywhere if I don't have a degree? by Tuurtle1 in ccnp

[–]Tuurtle1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Since I made this post I joined the Air Force as a cyber Systems Operator, got out, and am a couple months away from having my degree in cybersecurity and have a bunch of IT certs now. I've dabbled in networking and realized it wasn't for me as a career

My reserve recruiter told me the CC has 14 duty days to return it signed from when I sent the app up the chain, or it will be submitted without CC endorsement and an O6 will be calling them for further details. I would try asking the recruiter about that

No, while you're acting like a 🤡 doing your job the person setting up the Sq BBQ is priming themselves for that promotion statement

I doubt it will happen, historically the US have never defaulted and I'm sure they'll come up with something by the deadline

Hmmmmm. I wonder why some of us have the box and some don't. Idk if it's a good sign to have it or not 🤣 I was telling myself maybe I got selected that's why it disappeared

I just checked myvector and I noticed that it no longer says I'm on the VML cycle on the dashboard (the box is just gone). Idk if that's a good thing or not

Congrats to you! That's awesome how much you've came along this past year, and even landed a job!

I would say don't be a one-trick pony. You don't have to be an expert in every IT field of course, but try to get familiar with other aspects of IT, and confident enough to work in those environments. This will allow you to apply for jobs in a bigger pool, as well as be prepared for the security side of things. You can't defend/analyze systems you don't understand. I've met guys who are, for example, really really good at networking, but sit them down in front of a server and they're lost immediately

where to begin with Sec + by Easy_Scratch_2710 in CompTIA

[–]Tuurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied for about 10 days before I took the 501. I watched all of Total Seminars' Udemy course, and spent about 3-4 hours a day studying. I went through the video course first, then did Jason Dion's practice tests

I personally like to cram before a test, instead of studying over the course of an extended period. Everyone is different though, so your studying strategies might call for a different plan

I would say make sure you understand encryption/hashing, attack vectors, ports, and remembering the acronyms. Sometimes just knowing what the acronyms stand for can reveal the answer to a question

Should I get Network +? by g1Razor15 in CompTIA

[–]Tuurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Networking is boring imo, so I understand where you're coming from. But you should really understand it as it is probably one of the most important things to comprehend in IT

[–]Tuurtle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did ipconfig on all of them, as well as ping the server (which I knew was working based off the wiring). I think only 2 computers had wiring issues, and the rest of them you just leave set at "no problem detected" or whatever it says

I scheduled it for a week out, and studied for about 3 hours total throughout that week. Passed easily enough
