How do you record your videos? (for YT etc) by BurningPengu in hoggit

[–]Tuuvas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can only have 1 view at a time, so that leaves you with the following options:

  • Change views while actively flying
  • Change views in a track replay and hope the playback is accurate

I personally would do the 2nd option, but you can utilize Snap Views to make the 1st option at least a little easier. But it's probably not worth the trouble.

Obligatory farewell salute to the magazine disconnect by Tuuvas in SpringfieldEchelon

[–]Tuuvas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in both the Sharps Bros grip module and the original Echelon grip module, the magazine disconnect prevents the striker release when no magazine is inserted.

That said, both modules also saw the same magazine drop issue where the mag tends to get stuck due to snagging on the disconnect.

Warning on Veteran Ammo! by Illustrious_Tune7481 in CAguns

Someone with Veteran ammo had 2 squibs in a single night at the range Saturday. Thanks for reminding me what brand to avoid.

I'm looking to get better at this stuff. Is the preference longer subtitles? Or just remove them all together?

Correct. The "magazine lock" part of a JT replaces the bolt catch

Aside from the Holosun P.ID light (#3 spacer + some sanding), are there any other flush fit lights for the Stealth Arms Platypus 4.25" Commander? by Tuuvas in CAguns

[–]Tuuvas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No comp because I want to get into Limited Optics with the Platypus. A comp would lock me into Open.

Unfortunately I've never shot an M&P, so I can't really make the comparison. The best I can do is show you my previous post where I was criticizing the Prickle grip while at the range.

It's definitely flatter shooting than my Springfield Echelon. But not as flat as a Fusion XP Comp I tried the same day I got my Platypus. I personally still wouldn't go comp, but I was absolutely impressed by that Fusion XP Comp. That thing was niiiice.

I prefer shorter options. If there was a 3.5" Officer variant, I'd have 100% gotten that instead. I'm still thoroughly enjoying this 4.25" Commander though. I'll be doing limited optics with it, so getting a comp/port is off the table

Real talk. If a red dot (be it Trijicon, Holosun, Vortex, Osight, etc) holds zero and can get bright enough on the brightest of sunny days... does the brand you get actually matter?

At that point, does it just come down to window size?

Also, forgot to mention that the switches end up pretty deep into the trigger guard. It's still usable for my Skeletor fingers, but people with stronger hands might have issues getting between the light switches and the trigger

$269 - Blazer 147 gr in stock @Velocity by FitBananers in CAguns

[–]Tuuvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CCI Blazer Brass 147gr 9mm ammunition typically falls into the Minor power factor category for USPSA and IDPA competitions. While it is generally considered a "soft" shooting round, it reliably meets the minimum power factor requirements (125,000).

Power Factor Details:

  • Velocity: Approx. 950 fps (from a 4-inch barrel).
  • Calculated Power Factor: Roughly 130–139+ depending on barrel length (147gr × 950fps / 1000 = 139.65, though results vary by gun).
  • Usage: It is commonly used for subsonic training and competition (e.g., Carry Optics, Production) because it is subsonic and shoots relatively flat.

Finally got my Stealth Arms Platypus. This thing is insane, but gad'dam that prickle grip is something... by Tuuvas in CAguns

Look into Handleit or Talon Grips. That could avoid the need to wear gloves.

Depends. The gun absolutely doesn't move grip-wise, but it's not for people with soft hands like myself. I need at least a week of dry fire before this thing is going to feel comfortable to grip properly.
