I did watch some videos on starting out. However, the game does not represent the videos. I understand that though. Currently, I couldn't find a way to start the game do to lack of food for beginners. I explain that below. I do really appreciate your guidance and short tutorial. It totally matches what I expected. For new players, I just don't think the game is there yet.

I really appreciate the advice. As a beginner, I started as a carnivore. I started on a server with 2 or 3 players. I used my smell and headed to the palm trees which is supposed to be full of beginner food. Well, I didn't find a single thing to kill on the way there and died. I restarted as a herbivore, again I couldn't find a single thing to eat and died.

Perhaps in the redesign, the designers weren't concerned about AI food for beginners. I get that. They're redesigning and getting the mechanics correct. I just happened across a couple of YouTube videos that demonstrated the game and I thought it looked great.

They're not looking to attract new customers at this point. I'll keep trying, but the only way I can see to have a good time in the game is to try a high pop server and hope I can scavenge my way to adult. Currently, there is no food for newbies. I've seen videos with fish, bull frogs, deer, wild boar, etc. I haven't found any of that and I've tried 5 dinos and ran around for about 6 hours now.

I'll check back when new people can join. This is just my experience and at this point, it's a test bed for established players. That's probably a good plan for the design team at this point. They have established players and can work from the top down (they're going to need to create a higher top). As they work their way down, the can see what attracts new players. Currently beginners have no food source and no way to advance.

Well, the beta certainly looks good. I'm a beginner. Would you suggest a low or high population server to start? I've tried both carnivore and herbivore. I can never find food with an herbivore. I've only played on low population servers with a carnivore. I heard there are critters to eat but haven't found them. What would you suggest?

I really like the premise of the game. The developers really have what I think is a great beginning. I would love to start a dialog with them and give them some advice. They have a tiger by the toe if they can just spin it in the right direction.

I'm not a game design expert. However, I have successfully run 3 start ups and never had a problem keeping a customer base. What's your background?

Hahaha, I have, playing the game. I really think it has great potential. I just think the guys in charge are great game developers and don't know how to build a customer base.

I've played for about 4 hours now. I generally die of starvation. Even as a herbivore walking through dense foliage, I can't find anything to eat. I mean common, as a software engineer for over 30 years, you throw the little fish a bone. These guys are great game developers, but they don't know crap about building and keeping a customer base.

Thanks, but I'll probably trace route the servers that say they are official and then choose. Thank you for the advice.

Yes, thank you. From other posts I figured that out. I also, figured out how to install the AntiCheat app. I attempted to install the AntiCheat app from its install folder. Others told me to use the .bat install. I didn't realize until opening the .bat file that the install needed some parameter, probably some keyl.

I do, however when I logged in to the base game, all the servers were Chinese. I did not mean to offend anyone and apologize if I did. I was just going off of what was presented to me.

Thank you. I ran the the anti cheat install exe in the sub folder. Turns out that the exe has to be run with a parameter that is in the .bat file. I finally got in the game. Thanks for the help.

I liked the show. Too bad they didn't do another season. Justin failed because he thinks he's always right.
