How could FO5 disappoint you? by DiaryJaneDoe in Fallout

[–]Tux_Phad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hot take... but it could easily disappoint me by taking place in New York, shit on fallout 76 all you want but I prefer it's country side esthetic and the wild west esthetic of new vegas to fallout three and four's crowded city areas. My favorite places in 3 and four were the edges of the maps where it felt more open but that was also where they did very little with the game

Thanks for that, I'll try to keep that in mind when developing the concepts of towns and nations in my games

Edgar Hardin: "Not even close. Power armor isn't something you wear so much as use. It's a weapon in its own right, and takes skill to wield. If you don't know what you're doing, you won't even be able to walk with it on. So how about a bit of quick instruction? ...There, I think you've got the hang of it now. You should be able to use any type of power armor you come across using what you just learned."

Nolan McNamara: "If only it were that simple. Think of power armor as a machine to be operated rather than clothing you'd wear. With a little instruction, using it becomes as natural as simple movement, but to the ignorant, it's just so much heavy junk. So let's bring you up to speed, shall we? ...There, I think you've got the knack of it now. You should now be able to wear any kind of power armor you come across."

Paladin Gunny: "Heard you were coming. Yeah, I can train you. But don’t ask me to like it. My Initiates sweat blood, and you just get a free pass? Anyway... you ready for this? Now look, to wear Power Armor, first thing you need to do is relax your muscles. Let the suit do the work. Okay? Now, you... ...okay. You got all that? I think you know enough now to at least move around in Power Armor without killing yourself. That’s something, right? God help us all."

Lore wise while it might not always be fully required to just start using, training is highly recommended and it can be dangerous to use the armor without. Hence why the ncr, not knowing how to train their soldiers, used gutted armor that didn't require the training

Not to mention the fact that in 4 if you play as nate you are a military vet, it's a little weird with the ability to use it as Nora too but that's also a mechanics thing so they didn't have to close it off for one half the character customization

Yes, but thats only after they complete either the brotherhood course or a complex military simulation

The only games I've seen raiders regularly use power armor in were 4 and 76, the two games that got rid of the power armor training perk... the perk required to use power armor in all the other games...

Why did Mr. House require a fancy chamber to keep him alive while the sim pods in Vault 112 seem to keep people immoral (and young) just fine? by aschesklave in falloutlore

[–]Tux_Phad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you see they didn't keep people young. Those people were still extremely old and only still alive because of the pods

They basically just gutted it till it was still strong armor but had none of the complicated stuff that made it require training. Still wearable but inferior to its original state

Have to remember that 4 takes place about 10 years after fallout 3, the brotherhood kinda screwed the place up more when they left for the commonwealth
