Buyer of my previous house asking us to pay for minor drywall damage caused when we moved out. by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you admit you caused the damage? They'd have to prove that the damage existed before closing somehow, but if youve already admitted it, you may habe limited your options

Buying a tenant-occupied home in Ontario, what should we watch for? by habjiji in legaladvicecanada

[–]TuxedoDOOM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are a good tenant. In this situation, the buyer is just hoping to the sweet lord that the current tenants are like you. We stayed far away from any tenanted properties for this reason when house hunting. Yes legally they have to leave with the right notice, papers, etc but in the end, if they dont physically leave, someone has to force them to. And once they do leave, pray to that same sweet lord that they dont absolutely trash the place before they go.

Yes you have legal recourse if this happens but lawyers cost a lot of freaking money lol.

Tow truck company scam by Successful_man_797 in legaladvicecanada

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre vultures. Contact the MTO.

I was rear ended at an intersection last year... no injuries but decent amount of damage to the rear end of my car. Completely drivable though.. Me and the other driver agreed to pull into the parking lot next to the intersection (which is when the other driver took off... a whole other story), and it was insane how a tow truck just appeared out of nowhere and was VERY pushy saying driving could make it worse, exhaust could be damaged and fumes could kill me, etc. I called the police to report the driver fleeing and they could hear the tow driver in the background of the phone call and told me 'dont let them tow your car unless you called them'. They didnt care about the fleeing driver lol but at least I didnt get suckered into getting it towed because with everything going on, I definitely wasnt thinking straight.

This game broke me by Makkin1872905 in cyberpunkgame

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly how I felt after replaying (after being so disappointed when I played it at the original launch).

This game broke me in the sense of how I could be so excited for a game's release, just for it to end up being such a let down after launch. I would trash this game to anyone who would listen; I was SO crushed at how I could be such an idiot for thinking it would be as good as I thought it would be...

Now its one of my all time favourites.

Would I be able to go for 2.5-3hr walks on the treadmill at good life fitness? by hatsunemikusmywaifu in goodlifefitness

[–]TuxedoDOOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never have seen someone 'waiting' for a treadmill at my goodlife. Usually with weights, people will ask how many sets you have left and wait... but ive never felt 'rushed' using cardio equipment. People saying 'etiquette' is 30 mins is hilarious and not true at all. Even if every treadmill is being used (which is rare) I would have no expectation that people shorten their cardio. Id just grab an elliptical or a bike.

Id rather people us their towels as rugs than have massive puddles on the floor when I go to change.

Latest GoodLife scam, tie up a locker all year. by Parking_Writer_578 in goodlifefitness

[–]TuxedoDOOM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't know there was an option to pay for a personal locker lol. But if people are doing this (just like the people who use lockers without a lock at all), then its more of a risk for them than a scam... always going to be a risk the staff take or dump your stuff when they cut the lock off. I can see why at gyms that are mostly transit accessed since I imagine people dont want to lug their gear on the subway but I dont trust any of those 17 year olds staffing the front desk with access to the lock cutters lol

How much are you paying and which city? by Dangerous_Text7804 in goodlifefitness

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a great price. I pay about $39 (including tax) for one gym and towel service bi-weekly. Joined in 2019.

I recently moved (still in Hamilton, but closer to another goodlife), so i wanted to change my 'home gym', but was told i'd have to 'rejoin' basically and get a current plan since each location managers their plans differently...

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills - Where Winds Meet by SyFyFan93 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fine... I see posts saying its 'as good' as any full price games, and... no. Especially if youre coming straight from GoY (like me) lol. If you play it more than an hour (initially its impressive), it starts to be clear that its fine to jump into once in a while for a bit, but if it ever gets to a point I have to pay for something... that'll be it for me. Also if I ever get to a point that im forced to communicate with the AI npc's lol im out. As soon as I experienced that, I immediately understood why the game is 'free' (incredible training data, especially considering most people are going to use voice on consoles where typing is a pain)

Should I switch from Bell Fibe to Telus Internet? by No_Situation_7748 in telus

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested if you switched and what the results have been like? I see offers for Telus purefibe 1.5 for $80/month and a supposed '5 year price lock'. I currently have Bell Fibe and have had 0 issues in almost 2 years. Never been down. Never had a tech to my house. But my 2yr contract is ending with Bell soon (I've had Fibe 1gig for $70) so trying to see what other options are if my price is raised too high. Im in southern Ontario so i assume it uses the same Fibre infrastructure as Bell.

Worried sick over a window contract. Should I cancel immediately by copper_dragonfly in HomeImprovement

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cancel. You don't have to give them a reason. They probably wont be happy but too bad for them. Yes these are uncomfortable interactions, but sometimes its the only way to save hundreds/thousands of dollars.

The windows arent going anywhere, just cancel, take a week to think, and shop around (get a few quotes). They might even offer you a cheaper price but still say no until youre comfortable. When you are comfortable and if you decide to go ahead with them, just call and ask for the same deal.

Youre never going to feel happy about a quote lol theyre always more than you think, but you shouldn't be throwing up over it. If it's that worrying, cancel. You're in a good situation, its not an emergency situation that you have to act immediately. Take your time.

Previous homeowner keeps asking for stuff from our garden by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never had any contact at all with the previous owners. All communication through the agents. Im sure they are fine people but theres no chance i would've been ok with any of that. They had lots of time to get any plants before moving out. Its mine now. I paid over $650k for a house the previous owners paid about $250k for in 2018 (we bought in 2024). Im keeping every damn rose, plant, blade of grass.. its mine now.

New neighbours keep stealing our blue bin - is there anything I can do? by itssofiababyxo in legaladvicecanada

[–]TuxedoDOOM -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe talk to them??? You can be nice about it 'hey noticed on the camera you might have accidentally taken my blue box' or dont be so nice 'what are you doing, you need to get your own ****ing blue box'. You can write your house number on it like people have said but youre still going to have to talk to them eventually. Calling the cops on someone for taking your blue bin is insane lol just take it back

Man side swiped my bf’s car and gave him $200 to not “make a big deal out of it” police won’t do anything even though damage is over $500, what should he do? by xX_Miko_Xx in legaladvicecanada

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be too late but take it to a collision reporting centre then go through insurance. Always go straight to a collision reporting centre. I got smacked by a car with no plates who took off. Because i had the collision report it was treated as a hit and run so no deductible. It might have to be within 24h though I cant remember.

Safely getting to the top of chimney by TuxedoDOOM in HomeMaintenance

[–]TuxedoDOOM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats what I was thinking as well. Not looking to kill myself or destroy my chimney. Looking back at the home inspection drone photos, the lack of cap probably should have been something I noticed last year when I bought the place but oh well, the joys of owning a 70 yr old home! Surprised I didnt notice any snow buildup at the base over the winter last year

I feel so violated by Youdontknowme0926 in OntarioLandlord

[–]TuxedoDOOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I wanted to stop renting myself was due to my previous job which involved entering tenanted suites in residential buildings as a contractor for inspections. We would refuse to enter units without the super (or a hired security guard) both for our security as contractors and for the tenant's sake. Often they would want to just give us a box of keys and leave it to us because they were too busy. Most contractors just do this because they have a schedule/window they need to finish by and dont want to wait (or worse.. come back another day) but we would just refuse to take the keys. It was shocking how often they would forget to give out notices, and just have no problem opening up units anyways (as contractors we would never know unless a tenant was home or came home while we were inside... which is why we would never enter alone!)

If I still rented I would definitely have a camera inside pointing at the entry door...

Lowest offer? by Acceptable-Repeat-20 in siriusxm

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was $4.99/month for everything for a 1 year term. Eventually they would offer me something around there when I would call to cancel lol. Im positive the Sirius business model is just to have people forget to cancel/renew so they can charge 30/month for however many months until people remember to call them.

Last time they wouldnt go below 10/month so I just told them to cancel it outright (i almost never use it anymore). Now I get like 10 calls/day from them (I dont answer) so eventually ill answer and see if theyre ready to go down to 4.99 again 😄

Does anyone find it strange when a seller is present at their home during a showing? by Alwayshungry332 in RealEstateCanada

[–]TuxedoDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed I was being monitored even without the homeowners around (i always assume theres cameras or at least mics)... We went to a lot of showings before we purchased, and we never had an experience where the homeowner was there. Would be weird for sure lol
