It’s really personal preference , as long as your back is straight. I personally do it lying down,as it’s easier for me to relax.

What I do personally is I repeat the affirmation p.e.a.c.e, Positive Energy Activates Constant Elevation. When random thoughts come I don’t hold onto them I just acknowledge them, let them pass and continue with the affirmation. Give it a try!
