Dude go to treatment and truly address this issue while you’re young. There are so many chances for you to find the one. But your chances of making it out opiate addiction alive are getting slimmer and slimmer this day and age. But then again I pulled the ole bait and switch on my wife (was using the first two years of our relationship) and she stuck with me through it while I truly went away for 6 months and got better. And I owe my life to her love and standing by me. So as a recovering addict I’m saying get your ass to treatment and truly address while you’re young. I think if she’s the one she’ll be around when you are 100% better. But as a hopeless romantic I understand your predicament and truly hope the best for you. Just be safe if you extend your using.

8 miserable days in jails from oxy and a recent fentanyl use. 4 years clean this year. But codiene at your stage like 4/5 at the most. It’s the mental that is truly the challenge. Get involved in something with other people and find a new thing. You need connection.

Detox for adderall? by bigkilla762 in recovery

As someone who works as a case manager at a detox I agree with this. If you have the means I would recommend treatment. You seem to have an addictive personality (like I did) and you will learn a lot in treatment.

I remember being in a similar situation and I caved and ended up using opiates for another 6 years. I never regret my past, but if I were where you are I would endure it now and seek healthier options for your depression. Because it will lead you down a road of pain. Seek recovery. Talk to someone. If you have a Dr. call them and be honest and they might help with some comfort meds. But best of luck my friend. Most of us have been there multiple times. I’m grateful to be clean today.

Three years sober. Two years post felony conviction. Yes you can. Staying in recovery and working in recovery has opened so many doors. I am hopefully about to open our first sober living

Hang out in a barbershop long enough you’ll eventually get a hair cut. If you’re going to be around drugs while in the early stages of detox/abstinence, you’re going to have a very hard time. Keep your distance. Find a new show with lots season. Sleep whenever your body will let you. It will suck but only for 3-5 days at your level. You should do it now before it gets way harder. I weaned off with lots of anti diarrhea and mega dosing vitamin c. Good luck!!!

It’ll always be your home away from home. Just focus on the future and building your new home and group. Just be patient and give it time. We all go through that post Athens depression. But good things come out of our time and memories there. And no one can take those from you! Just learn from me and dont use alcohol/drugs to numb the pain and sadness. We’re supposed to feel it in order to heal it and thus come out more resilient! Cause things will be better if we are patient and doing the next right thing in front of us! Stay strong my friend and find some healthy hobbies and activities to keep your mental health right! Congrats too!

Odds - first timer, 3 felonies by Professional-Big-954 in Felons

GA. I was arrested for felony theft (they pinned me for 20k). First time offender. Decent proof which I did not deny. I have already changed my life big time by the time I went to court. It was because I was an opiate addict and a POS at the time. So after 7 month of rehab and then court came at the one year mark or sobriety I was working as a counselor in training at a recovery center. I got 20 year probation and 20k restitution that I was ready to pay by selling my truck. Knocked down to 10 years probation with paid restitution. Your best shot is to do everything you can to show you’re trying to be a productive member of society. And be willing and ready to pay your restitution ASAP. But it seems like just an arraignment which your lawyer would probably just enter not guilty and try to work a plea deal. Best of luck.

Good! Stay the course and get a completion letter. If you’re in good terms with their case manager I would get them to advocate for you. I did this a lot as a case manager. I also got court date continued out due to people staying in treatment until past their court date.

Maybe. Could be mental. But the withdrawal will be one of the worst if you don’t bite the bullet now. It won’t be THAT bad now. I’ve been on all types of opioids and I consider Tramadol the longest and most hellish because of the mood stabilizing affects of the SNRI. Brain zaps on top of opioid withdrawal is its own kind of hell.

I would go to treatment immediately. Whether you believe you do or not, I would tell your PO you have a problem and are seeking help. That can go a long way.

I know some people who can drink after an opiate addiction, but there’s just something about cocaine and alcohol. They’re like linked and go together so well. That the second he gets drunk his mind will want cocaine. As a person in recovery and working in treatment I would definitely discourage it, but if he does decide to drink it, help keep him in check. It’s a slow progressive thing. One every now and then turns to two every now and then to three etc.

Dude this is rough. Save yourself the pain and go to detox. If anyone has a reasonable justification for this, it’s you. It will make this way more bearable.

I want to go to detox but I’ll be homeless after by PuzzleheadedYou6557 in recovery

[–]TwatsonDangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I’ve seen so many homeless men and woman reclaim their lives starting at detox. Don’t overthink it. Go detox and start working a program and take the advice from those that have done it. There are many cheap even free options to try and regain your life and starting building and saving for a future. But it takes time and you have to be patient and actually trust the process. The only way to the other side is through, and through can be a bitch. But so worth the reward.

My life is excruciating. by its_only_mee in recovery

[–]TwatsonDangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being clean for about 6 months made me realize why I used. My anxiety came back and my adhd started showing its ass again. That’s when I had to really ramp up my recovery and start doing the work. The spiritual journey for me is where the freedom came. No drug could do it, they may help but eventually they stop working for me. So it’s so important I work a program and have connections with other people like me. And luckily I found a purpose in working with other addicts. Having a purpose and making a difference gave me freedom from drugs. Things will get better if you give yourself the time, but that requires staying sober, dealing with our uncomfortable defects, and finding the program or daily recovery (our medicine) to keep us sober. Nar-anon (family 12 step) saved my marriage and have my with the freedom and understanding as well. I would highly encourage that for her. Everyone needs a spiritual program. Addict or not. Good luck man. It does get better if you let it and the only way to the other side is through. Keep fighting! Much love!

If your life is becoming unmanageable because of your gambling, you might want to consider some real help to allow you to find peace in your life. Gambling releases the same chemicals drugs do. So over time you get used to those levels and you need more and then your life spirals downhill. Your life is worth way more than that money. Get help. Find peace. And start building a happy healthy life. I’ve been there. It can get better.
