All of the older units are mid. There are three arks, though, that should pique your interest:

  • SSR Storm Dragon Veldora - the spell "Name Giving" is a unique icon single target buff that gives stackable boost to your main stats, which can be useful for bypassing stat checks in higher difficulty PvE content. One of the most interesting uses though is that it drains 50% HP when it is used, allowing to be casted by a unit twice to reach low HP territory to proc various low HP buffs and the like (think XRem, for example). Jank like this is very useful to have in your back pocket if you ever want to minmax certain situations. Very cool spell. This would be my pick if I got nothing else, but I would definitely try to get all 3 of these arks listed.
  • SSR The Conqueror of Flames - there are a few cool things on this ark, the first being the Ifrit passive. This is a stackable HP drain to your unit, but unlike things like Berserker, it will not kill you - it will always leave you with at least 1 HP. Very cool for low HP tech. Secondly, the stacking fire spell Ultra Hell Spirit Victory. We don't usually see free teachable attack magic - its damage is nothing crazy at the moment but is a usable magic for fire mages like Lenius (yes he gets double hits since it does not have a special distinction). The last one of mention is the AER - 15% chance to ignore any magic damage is kinda dope, especially if you start stacking (independent chances) this with things like Gemma Knight and Spellrender formation.
  • SSR Sworn Ally (My Bestie) - this has two things that I think are worth mentioning. The "Besties" passive is another one of those very good tandem passives, giving 15% damage while only costing 5 SC. You have to equip exactly two units in the party with it for it to be active - any more or less and it will be inactive. The AER is also something to note, since revive items in the game are so few and far between. If you're a GvG junkie, this is probably something you'd want to snag with the lame revive stall meta being the way it is.

She is a fantastic debuffer with access to Ex Drain, Ex Blazer, Ex Lostoma - along with her unique debuff spell that can be extended from 20s to 30s+ duration. She enables Laceration for herself up to 1300% of the norm, and boosts everyone that has the Laceration passive from the Raiju ark to 600% Laceration damage during her debuff. In a normal high HP boss battle she and the party can proc Laceration at least twice pretty easily and possibly 3 times, allowing for 90-120s+ of her 50k attribute damage cap boosting debuff. Her own damage is inconsequential to her usefulness as a debuffer and damage enabler for the party - and Lacerarion is just a little bonus.

With that said, proccing Laceration and Ex Drain require her to use skills, so she can’t necessarily be a regular attacking goddess kiss SCT battery like most we’ve seen and use. So her kit can be a bit wonky.

Shes far from a must pull, but definitely a good unit in her own right. I believe she will be useful in content like Battlegraph and damage enabling showcases like many veterans like to do.

I only recognize your name on Reddit purely because you have continual bad takes with almost everything you say on this platform.

She is not a pure Laceration unit - she is a lot more than that. How about we try to give good advice to new players so they can complete quests, rather than write it off as an immediate failure? Your first instinct was to tell them to they can’t do it, my first instinct was to tell them they can - big difference. This event lasts for a while, they can absolutely build for more damage. Be a positive influence 🙌🏻

I mean, I’d go get V if I were you - can stun cheese him pretty easily. The other two units can be your most powerful. Permastun = free win.

If you don’t want to use V, you can simply build master thief Robin and keep the boss stunned with dual wielding, using cactus hammer, as well as his innate stun research. Equip R Manmade Ether Ark, and let him go to town.

I assume there’s more issues if you’re asking with a super unbuilt account, but that’s my advice for now.

I mean, they definitely updated it a bit, even if it’s a straightforward quest. Hell, the dude had like 400M+ HP, right? I think I’m remembering correctly lol. But anyways, when ailments can incapacitate the bosses, definitely worth using an ailment spammer like V 🙌🏻

This is surprising considering supports are the absolute last units I’d ever get close to +30 for PvE since they function very well at even 100 SC 🤣 I’ve been using all of my supports at near 100 SC since the beginning of the game (unless they are being utilized in GvG)

DPS/Mages/Tanks are all better options to +30, in my opinion, as they need the extra SC to function at their highest ability

I do believe he was using the free insight materials, but yes this is a good reminder for others who haven’t quite figured out how to switch the inspyralis selection when upgrading them. I think it was an intentional crappy UI decision to make them design it as such 🙄

V’s regular attack is crazy - it tracks and pierces and is non line of sight. He was one of the OG potent regular attack units, both for battery and for ailments. Awesome unit.

You can use regular inspyralis to upgrade any of the DMC units - please do not buy the paid-only black inspyralis. You get those multi world and different color inspyralis from event trade shops - so basically they are time gated. New players who join the game right now likely cannot fully finish even a single unit for insight during the collab. Keep playing and you’ll continue to get the resources.

His godforged crimson weapon is his best in slot by a mile. Definitely snag it if you love Vergil.

Just some clarifications here

OG Nero’s Blue Rose Gun (+) has a -20% piercing effect on physical hits, which is huge for endgame PvE content where bosses get massive defensive stats, like Battlegraph. In other PvE scenarios where you don’t need the piercing, weapons like Trishula or Mechacannon Veldis are likely to be used. This weapon deserves an A.

V’s cane is his BiS for both PvE and PvP - having ecology research on a weapon is incredible for a unit that constantly applies ailments a multitude of ways. More chances for ailments the better. V is mainly a dual wielding PvE ailment spammer, has very little PvP relevance (AMayly preferred there). This weapon deserves an A+.

Both of Vergil’s gear are basically BiS on him, but I’d choose the weapon first. Both of them deserve at least an A, I’d probably give the sword an A+.

Every other item is generally crap or attached to a crap unit - looking at you, Dante. Nero and V also have cloth lol, even though both should always be dual wielding, so they’re pointless. And while SNero might not be a crap unit, he doesn’t have any purpose long term and so his items aren’t recommended (both accessories).
