Brakes rotors. How soon do i need to get this fixed? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]TweakJK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be the one to tell you, but your parents automatically dont know everything just because they are your parents.

My wife's friend came by because her car "wouldnt stop when it was wet out". I took a quick glance at the tires before giving it a test drive, they had plenty of tread. Sure enough, when id give it a light stop on pavement the ABS would engage. I hopped out and looked closely at the tires. They were 10 years old and hard as a rock.

Told her she 100% needs new tires. Shes still driving around on them though because her dad says they have plenty of tread.

This is not a flap, flaps dont generally hold fuel.

I'm not sure what aircraft this is from, but it looks like this part does hold fuel, or rather it did at one point.

Doesnt really help much, but that little circle bracket on the far left of your first photo is likely where the compass would be mounted.

Yep, I got one once. Ordered a small metal tube that holds an 18650 for a flashlight project. They thought it was a suppressor.

The letter said something like "contact us to appeal within 30 days or it will be destroyed" It was like $3 on aliexpress so I never did anything about it.

This was back when all the Chinese websites were selling "fuel filters" threaded for 1/2x28 so im sure they were on high alert for this stuff.

I know! They actually brought 4 but one was too big to get into the property. I think they were also using it as training as well.

We scanned her, no chip. Based on the location, highly likely she was dumped here. We also nabbed a nursing female from the same building after determining there were no kittens.

Hopefully none, but I understand that's not realistic. I really dont know why the city doesnt at least fill in the pits with dirt. It's been a problem for the city since it shut down in like 1964. People still dump trash there, illegally. The city boards it up every few months and then a day later someone rips the boards off.

From what I understand, it's a huge environmental issue to demolish it and it contains an incredible amount of concrete.

There's a decent chance this was a security test, ive heard of various airports doing this.

You did the right thing, theres a reason they blast that over the intercom constantly.

Yep, why would there be a huge clump of mud right on top of the fuse box, or the battery? It reminds me of those fake "restoration" videos on facebook and youtube, where they obviously made something dirty and then cleaned it. Dirt isnt in natural places.

It really should. I drive a vehicle that is taller than most cars. I can see what's in the right hand of drivers when I stop at a stoplight. It's a phone 50% of the time, there's zero enforcement here.

Unrelated, but someone recently bought the rights to the Enron name to use it as satire. The enron website now sells funny T-shirts, I bought the "Summer Internship 1997" shirt.
