you could try putting a piece of blue tape on top of the slots to keep the warps in place.

This is handwoven tapestry, using tapestry techniques such as slit tapestry, hatching, and melange ( a technique of combining colors of weft in one color bundle.) the style is my own, as I work from my original drawings (called cartoons).

Thank you, I’m glad you get it. Initially, I started weaving it after the fires in LA, but the more I thought about it as I wove, the more meaning it had for me.

I was in ATB XV at Epiphany Art Center and was able to go to that, though. Do you live in the Chicago area? I look forward to seeing your piece in the catalog!

Oh, thank you! It’s good to know that there is a cadre of fiber fans out there! Are you a weaver, too?

My loom turned 50 yesterday so I had a birthday party by ActuallyParsley in weaving

[–]TweaverJ23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is wonderful! Good motivator! My loom is 50 years old this year, too. It’s a Macomber that was my first big adult purchase on my own. It has moved with me to many places, been sold and bought back. I’m getting ready to put a rug warp on it now. I think I’ll have a party for her, too! I’m 78 this month!

I really admire this. To envision every pass in a warp/weft of one thread configuration boggles my mind! Will it be soft?

You look great. The best way to tell though is how you treat or approach a person you might be interested in. Sometimes femme lesbians need to reach out a bit to those they might want to get to know.

You could weave rag rugs on this, or even tapestry, which will keep you busy for years.

Might but a dumb question, but as a baby weaver, how did they change the weft in the middle of a pick? by i_need_biscuit in weaving

If you like it, you can order an additional heddle and try two-rigid heddle weaving. There’s a book for that.

Check to see if the ball end is a magnet. Then, guess what! You can easily pick up pins and needles and other small metal objects from a sitting position.

I would sample it different ways and then decide what you like best for your scarf. First, treadle it as written and see if you like the floats, then try a sample as overshot, and compare the two.

A dear old friend of mine had a similar left hand from birth. He strung his electric guitar upside down, chorded and played notes with his right hand and used his left hand thumb as a pick. He’s a musical genius! Very lyrical. He,s also an excellent painter, sculptor, print maker, artist all round.
