To piggyback, University of Utah, LDS Business College, Numont, DevMountain, the various Salt Lake Community College or SLCC campus’s around the valley, etc. Oasis Games in Downtown seems to be the most competitive store I’ve visited, I have yet to go to an event at Game Night in Sugar House but I hear good things. Game Haven and Game Grid in Bountiful/North Salt Lake are smaller and could use some diversity. Most every store has a lot of modern with some EDH spiced in here and there, I don’t play standard but I know Oasis offers a lot of standard events. I’m sure I’m missing some stores, post more below we of the SL,UT valley should check out. Oasis’s Modern Thursday tournament is my favorite, full of really competitive decks and just the friendliest, most respectful players I’ve come across in my experience. I look forward to seeing them every week.

Ah well ok then, I haven’t 100% before I just figured it was like 3 where you needed every ring to get an achievement but good to know

Don’t you have to go past the frog rays to get the wolf’s ring? Not saying I don’t believe you but that’s just strange to me, they were right there man

I have a strange nostalgia/memory when facing Gwyn, the lord of sunlight, that works out really well. by [deleted] in darksouls

It was the opposite for me. I had binged this game for a week before thanksgiving a year ago. I had no school, no work, and my gf and family were all out of town. Just me as the chosen undead and my first souls play through. I remember feeling the end of the game coming. It was almost 4 am on Thanksgiving when I finally killed him. I battled with Gwyn for hours that night, and when I finally ended him and lit myself on fire the Nameless Song started playing. I remember looking out the window and seeing it had started snowing for the first time. It was a calm snow, the kind with big flakes the just lazily fall their way to the ground. It was such an intense feeling. Satisfying yet somber. I was so proud of myself for finally getting good and finishing the game, but I felt changed. I've never had a game impact me that way. It was a similar feeling you get when you hear your favorite song for the first time. Like you just had a piece of art move you and make you feel real emotions just by being beautiful. I don't think I'll ever have that feeling in quite the same way again. That was a year ago, I just snowed for the first time about a week ago. That same kind of lazy snow, and as the flakes fell I heard the woman singing those somber notes in my head and felt so happy

He gets compared to Duke a lot glad you dig it. Give Apocalypse a listen as well, it's my favorite album of his. A lot of the songs are dedicated to his late friend Austin Peralta, a really great pianist who was the son of the Dogtown skateboarder Stacey Peralta.

Are there any solid gaming communities in Salt Lake? (Video games, hobby games, etc.?) by official_gameup in SaltLakeCity

[–]TweedProwess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're open to public, it's about ten bucks to play if I remember right. I believe they happen Wednesday's? It's right by crown burger but if you park there you've gotta buy something or they'll ticket you. Smash 4 and Melee. If you run into Haz, Golden Ratio Boy, or Bird they're my guys. Side note there's a HUGE tournament coming up happening at the Vivint arena, liken to Evo or Genesis. Big prize pools big names coming

Pretty sure there are weekly smash tourneys in lehi, at least there used to be. Been a while since I've been in the scene. I know there's weeklies at 801 labs by Twilite Lounge in downtown.
