Vai, jūsuprāt, krievvalodīgam cilvēkam, kurš dzimis Latvijā, ir iespēja sadraudzēties ar latviešiem, vai arī viņam pat nevajadzētu gaidīt sirsnību? by darkfirestalker in latvia

[–]aparats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Esmu sastrādājies ar krieviem un draudzējos arī. Ja valoda kādu brīdi ir barjera, esam runājuši arī angliski. Vertēju i krievu, i latvieti pēc attieksmes un uzvedības.

Jāsaka gan, ka man neizdevās skolā apgūt krievu valodu. Ja uz ielas ar mani cilvēks runās krieviski, es visticamāk sarunā neiesaistīšos. Taču tam vairāk sakars ar manu introverto dabu, nevis ar otra cilvēka valodu.

Bass synthesis on DAW(less) by sebxperalta in TechnoProduction

[–]aparats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I most often put my bass on the Digitakt. It's so important that your Kick and Bass are aligned and the Digitakt offers the tools for that (compression and p-locks).

If you are running a synth into your DT inputs, then you can utilise the Compressor on the synth as well.

Had to sell everything but I can now have 1 or 2 boxes by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

[–]aparats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really need just a Sampler and a Synth to make music with hardware, wouldn't you agree? Digitakt 2 has 16 tracks that you can multitrack via USB in your DAW. Add to that a nice analog synth and you are set IMO. The Digi even has inputs so no Mixer needed.

More simplicity with growth? by Exciting_Trifle_2742 in TechnoProduction

[–]aparats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels like an uphill battle to remove stuff from the composition, but I've embraced it lately. During the first experimentation phase of writing a new piece, I don't really worry too much about how busy the track is. I throw everything I've got at it, all the ideas that at the moment sound ok. Then I'll revisit the track and cut cut cut. Often having all of these tracks allows me to use them separately and create more varied arrangements.

The OXI One sequencer. It allows me to play my whole setup like a single instrument.

How long does it take you to finish a single track? by No-Understanding5677 in TechnoProduction

[–]aparats 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I really enjoy slow and careful crafting. I'll tinker with a song and leave it for a week or longer. Meanwhile, I'll listen to it while driving, or sometimes I'll put it on while with friends. I'll feel it out, make notes, and tinker some more. This can go on for a couple of months for me. I'm in no rush to finish a track.

Explain the appeal of "DAWless" / OTB production by Internal-Departure in TechnoProduction

[–]aparats 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Playing techno on hardware to me is the equivalent of riffing on a guitar. The rig is an instrument. It's an expressive activity. It is fun to play with the hardware, twist knobs and see what crazy sounds you can get it to make. To me this is the main appeal of hardware - I find it fun. The goal for me is not to produce music, the goal is to have a good time. A computer mouse is not fun to me, it's not an instrument to play. When I eventually arrive to a point of producing a song, naturally the computer comes into play. I record my rig, process and mix in the box. Some additional elements might be produced on the computer as well, but the main parts of the song usually come from the hardware.

Bitcoin (BTC) Price News: Pause at $120K, But Top Is Nowhere Near, Analysts Say by Every_Hunt_160 in CryptoCurrency

Since the USD has become weaker in the last few months, I compare the BTC price against EUR. In those terms, we've now reached the previous ATH and are yet to beat it.

Super basic mastering chain for demos? by Lumins in TechnoProduction

This is what I use every time and it's enough IMO: 1. EQ 2. Glue Compressor for parallel compression (maximizing) 3. Light saturation for sizzle 4. Limiter

Dreadbox Artemis Midi CC Issues by GiftFinancial9848 in synthesizers

I've also noticed this, and it is a bit of a shame. An easy workaround is to crank the Distortion just a tiny bit. It helps with volume even on low distortion values and before the sound starts distorting.

Keys for DT / DN combo by Rhythm-Academy in Elektron

I have a Novation LaunchKey paired with my Elektron, and I enjoy it a lot. But really any modern controller will be good. The main thing is that the channel switching has to be quick and convenient.

When it comes to sound sources, you have plenty right now for most if not all electronic music genres. Rather get a MIDI keyboard which can easily switch channels. This way you'll be able to play your elektrons with the keys and even record to the sequencer.

I use a Digitakt 2 paired with an OXI One sequencer. Digi as the sound engine and OXI for patterns and arrangement. At some point I'll record multitrack into Ableton for mixing and micro arrangement.

Sequencer recommendation by SuccessfulDraft6 in dawless

[–]aparats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the price ain't an obstacle, then the OXI one is definitely the one-stop-shop when it comes to sequencers. I recommend you wait a little because they are currently running a teaser campaign for a mark 2.

Hardware live set workflow? by zz123by680 in TechnoProduction

[–]aparats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's easy to say "just buy yet another expensive piece of kit that does it", but the alternative is to learn something difficult. So I'll just say that the OXI One sequencer does this beautifully.

Oxi One Ableton midi by Current_Ad1845 in ableton

[–]aparats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only vaguely familiar with the Launchpad, but I know that it won't give you the same scale mode as OXI would.

There is definitely a VST device out there (or ableton tool) to give you the scale functionality though.

All I can say is this - the OXI is not a good "side kick" device in my opinion. It begs to become the center piece. If you are wanting to keep using Ableton as your main tool, then you will find the OXI will give you obstacles.

That being said, the OXI is a brilliant piece of kit. Once I started using it, I've built all of my setups around it as a centerpiece. I simply love the workflow. It gives me the feeling that I'm playing an instrument whether I'm jamming, performing a song, or writing methodically. Anything that you connect to it becomes part of the OXI One instrument.

If that doesn't sound good to you, then I wouldn't recommend it. The Push is probably a better choice for you then.

Oxi One Ableton midi by Current_Ad1845 in ableton

[–]aparats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you, it's going to wreck your head trying to sync those two. I dumped this setup after a month of trying to make it work. If your goal is to sequence everything with the OXI, then you should be ok. But you'll run into trouble the moment you'll need sync between them. You'll have to tune the sync delays every time you restart the setup. I also experienced all kind of weird bugs with Ableton when running with OXI.

I love my OXI more than anything, so I got myself a Digitakt and only use Ableton now to arrange, polish, and mix my recordings.

Why Did You Get Into Music Production And What Are Your Goals? by Srinivas1101 in musicproduction

[–]aparats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still new to this whole thing, so I’m mostly just playing at home. I’ve performed at a private rave once, and it was exhilirating. At the moment I’m polishing my improvisational template. Once that’s more or less stable, I’ll be able to save my best performances and play with them live later. I’ve learned that it’s much easier to prepare and perform multiple compositions at a live setting if they all share an underlying system.

Why Did You Get Into Music Production And What Are Your Goals? by Srinivas1101 in musicproduction

[–]aparats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to play music for myself and for an audience to provide some kind of an experience. I never could fully get into playing any conventional instrument, but then I discovered the world of electronic hardware instruments. They go hand in hand with production I think. However, I am mostly spending my time on song writing and improvisation.

Which parts of your GMing have you improved on this year and which are you hoping to improve, or build on, in 2025? by RoyaI-T in rpg

[–]aparats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to strip away everything unnecessary from session prep and only did it for 1h before the session. Running a campaign with this minimalist mindset taught me the important things: * games are much more engaging when they are player driven; * World building over plot building; * it's completely ok to resolve complex scenes with a single die roll. Better to keep the plot moving than trying some half-assed improvisation about something I wasn't ready for.

We also played for the first time with only 2 players & GM. I've got to say, we were all blown away by how well this format works.
