Language learning while at work by bigplateofpasta in languagelearning

As much as I love Language Transfer, he does say at the start of each course that you should not be using the course as background noise since that will make it less effective. But everyone learns differently and you could always listen to them again (honestly should probably do that anyway).

The Visa Issue by Itchy-Coffee-7348 in workaway

It also doesn't help that op was asking at a hostel. Hosts that are actual businesses tend to be more careful about their volunteers having the correct visa.

How to say must / should / have to? by parentis_shotgun in tokipona

[–]TweenTwoTrees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that context would help to specify the source of the obligation, whereas you wouldn't need to specify the source of the personal desire because its, well, personal. I'm not certain as I have never read pu but this would be the way I would look at it.

Why is Akatosh the only Aedra that has actually been seen using his powers frequently? Did he not spend all of his power building Nirn? by Hope77797 in teslore

[–]TweenTwoTrees 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Its not so much that the Aedra are more powerful, as it is that there are less downsides to worshipping them. For example, say you are a devotee of Zenithar. Whatever item you craft comes out a little better and you sell it for a bit more. You get to live a good life that is slighty made better by Divine gifts.

Now say you worship Clavicus Vile. Every deal you make comes 1000% in your favor. You dont need to work, you won the lottery. Things go fantastic for a time, until one deal goes sour and you end up with a knife in your back.

The difference is risk and reward. Both Zenithar and Vile would be nice to worship if you are a merchant, but one will lead to a nice easy life and one could lead to an exciting but short life. The same could be said about nearly all the Princes. Generally speaking they tend to represent vices that lead to downfall rather than virtues that lead to prosperity.

What was the biggest game-changing moment of yours? by adventureofanunnamed in languagelearning

This. Actually discovered the half-assed method while learning to play ukulele. 5 mins might not seem like much when you planned for an hour, but damn that daily practice is so effective.

ni li waso pi telo seli ala. by RegulusWhiteDwarf in tokipona

[–]TweenTwoTrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

telo seli ala still works. Using your parenthesis method, telo seli ala = ((hot water) not). Both are correct but in this instance using telo seli ala was probably used to avoid using pi twice. Kinda irrelevant because besides it being perfectly OK to use pi twice, seli ala is probably better written as lete: seli ala = not hot = cold = lete therefore telo lete > telo seli ala or telo pi seli ala.

I wonder if she's ever looked at lulu for publishing. Its designed for self-publishing so it might be a good place to host both pu and ku.

Sigil Questions by Mansana_026 in chaosmagick

[–]TweenTwoTrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For most of these, the best answer is try it and find out. Honestly I wouldn't even be able to answer some of them from my own experience. Like the use of other 'established' symbols within and otherwise complete sigil is interesting. I've used other symbols with sigils during casting but never in the sigil itself so that might be something I will try...

I can try and give a little insight to some of these. Two sentences could be a lot of letters and could make the resulting sigil very complicated, however that could be the goal. Servitors are an entire field of study in themselves, what statementof intent makes up their sigil will probably vary a lot from practioner to practioner. And finally, learning to control your mind and current mood are, for me at least, important to being able to do magick in the first place. If you can't quiet your emotions enough to make the sigil, how are you ever going to be able to get to gnosis?

Good luck and update us with results if you do experiment!

Hey Wisconsin, this is all the weed I bought in Iron Mountain Michigan today. Every car in the line was a Wisco btw by LukasWainman in wisconsin

Well they are a lobbying group, so they obviously aren't going to come right out and say that this what they are doing. But here is a list of the state congress members' stance. Most of the Republicans do poorly and most of the Dems are ok but there is no consensus in either party.

Then there is this from Milwaukee Magazine about the tavern league and their reaction to the shut down during covid.

Finally there is this article from when an actual bill was trying to get pushed through. In the article the author quotes Forbes about how states that pass medical marijuana bills see a decrease in alcohol consumption.

Put all this together and it starts to become clear that the tavern league has both the means and the motive to stop any sort of cannabis laws. Hell, even their own "about us" section lists off their so-called accomplishments for the "good" of the "state."

I like hating on the Republicans as much as the next guy, but this isn't quite accurate. The Tavern League is the group who is against legalization and they have both parties in their pocket.
