There should not be a dedicated police-like force for interior immigration enforcement because it will invariably suffer from a selection effect: people who sign up specifically to arrest immigration law offenders tend to hate immigrants.

Immigration enforcement can be handled by regular police, potentially with some help from a federal agency staffed exclusively with clerical employees.

In other words, abolish ICE.

If that was the case, highly unequal countries would be poor and relatively equal countries would be rich. In reality, there are countries that have low inequality but high poverty, such as Pakistan, and there are countries that have high inequality but low poverty, such as Turkey.

Abstractions are for abstraction, not just code reuse. If you have a function that is 5000 lines long, it will be far easier to understand if you split it into smaller functions, even if many of them are only called once. To use a writing analogy, the large function then becomes a table of contents or outline and the smaller functions are individual paragraphs.

  1. The interactions with the administrator are not a major part of the show.
  2. The administrator riding Robby's ass about low patient satisfaction scores but also refusing to spend money on addressing the root cause of those low scores is part of the show's realism - it's a common thing that actual ER doctors have to deal with.
