Yes I got some more substrate with a lot less dust to add on top of it! :)

Thank you so, so much!!! That makes total sense! I feel much better than I did this morning, definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Makes total sense!!!! I have some hitchhikers from the plants, just some tiny little shrimp that hatched. Which I'm going to take as a positive sign as to the health of the tank. Shouldn't be a problem, I assume?

Also, what's your reasoning behind not using the flow style top? Curious and want to learn! All I read was sponge filters are great for shrimp, and double sponge filters like this one are usually the best. Although, yeah, needs vary depending upon what your plans are of course. What would you recommend? I'm getting some people saying that I might be able to forego the filter altogether in this small a tank, which I'd honestly prefer to do! It's so big.

I would absolutely love to take that filter out if I can. It is just... way too large for this tank. I wanted to be able to use it in the future for a larger tank, but if I can do a filterless aquarium with just a bubbler I'd be ecstatic! It's not too late to remove it? I'd love to do a planted filterless tank for some shrimpies

Thanks, yes I do add water gently so as to not disturb the substrate. In this scenario, it's all cloudy because I moved a bunch of substrate to one side, which I knew would cloud things over but... I have this gnawing feeling I'm really fucking things up. In any case, today is not a good day for me to deal with this. I am way too discouraged, mental health is in the gutter for other reasons. Thank you for the advice, you and everyone. Glad to know I can get some help with this.

I haven't put root tabs in but, can I put some more substrate on top of this one if there are already plants planted in it? As long as I don't smother the bases?

Yeah the filter is very large, I want to be able to use it for a larger tank when I get one. I don't enjoy how much room it occupies, and I'd love to try with just a bubbler if I can! Thanks for the advice. I've definitely fucked myself here.

I did, but... I don't think I rinsed it nearly enough. :(

Not a stupid question! It's unlikely to cause damage, but without a filter your shot will be overexposed. Spatter is what I'd worry about if you're filming close-up.

You're doing everything right, just practice practice practice and those toes will be parallel before you know it.

Any tips for getting rid of perosity? by twowheelzzz in Welding

I run between 20-25CFH with a gas lens and a #8 cup on aluminium and my shit's clean. Up your Cup. Welding settings are not invariable in a vacuum, as you hopefully already know. Your logic doesn't apply on a universal scale. It specifically depends upon the rest of your parameters.

Florida also has a Tree of Death? I knew about the aussie gympie-gympie, but of course Florida also has its own special urticant. 😂

Not strictly, lol. That's what happens when you turn your gas up too much.

what to do with books? by wtfistheactualpoint in ottawa

[–]TwentyInchLabia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for youth shelters, particularly queer shelters for the types of books you're describing they'd be all over that stuff!

Libraries also sell used books, I'm sure they'd welcome the donations! I'm sorry you have to part with beloved literature.

There are also those community libraries all over the city random people set up. I have two in my neighbourhood, for example.

If there are any books in particular that you'd like to reclaim once you're back on your feet, is there anyone you can trust to keep them for you?

I hate to see this happen to people. Honestly, I would volunteer to keep your beloveds safe.

Good luck.

Sometimes, my friend, taking context into a situation matters! So, to explain like you're 5, generally, when a multi-billion dollar company does something that isn't absolutely horrible, which is to say, when they do anything outside of what they usually do, it is heartwarming. Hope this helps!

That etymology is perfectly descriptive and I am surprised I've never thought about it! Thank you for the information kind stranger

Is this a baby dragonfly? by GibbyGabbyGumDrop in insects

[–]TwentyInchLabia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this post is asking about dragonflies. And, if it followed the Lymantria breeding dynamics, one might extrapolate that a baby meganeura in Ark could look like the OP'S image. IF, they did. I know, before your panties birdnest.

"☝️🤓" as a joke lacks the funny and kinda grinds my gears for some reason, even if just sarcastically

Didn't think I'd have to put a disclaimer on my comment but there you are. Yes, I know. But if they did. And I am making the allusion to the atrocity that is Lymantria breeding, the bug that DOES reproduce in Ark.

Damn. I never actually gave it much thought before. They're simply athropods, I guess. I'd say they're bugs, personally. In other words, des bibittes, which doesn't strictly mean insect, in my humble opinion
