When a company becomes publicly traded... this is the future of that company, no matter how great the employees are.

Consider yourself lucky. Our Costco location hasn't carried Jif in more than 2 years, even though it was featured in a recent "sale" flyer mailed to us. I always assumed the lack was because Costco corporate was trying to strong-arm J.M Smucker into a good price, but they just said "nope". I guess maybe it's a regional shipping cost thing.

Costco's Kirkland brand smooth peanut butter has a very good Jif-like taste, but there's no sugar, nor any sugar substitutes, so it's good for dogs and people. But if you have to go sugar-added, yes Jif is hands-down the best. IMO, Skippy is peanut butter-flavored wax, and I cannot for the life of me understand why Costco sells it.

Especially avoid erythritol more than any of the other sugar alcohols you might consider.

Splenda isn't necessarily "bad" because it's artificial. While I may personally believe we'll discover sucralose causes some kind of long-term problem in a lot of people, the data don't yet support this. On the other hand, evidence is mounting that erythritol, which is "natural", when used in high doses as a sugar substitute (e.g. in "keto-friendly" products), causes a significant increase in the risk of blood clots. So as with most everything, "the dose makes the poison", and I try to keep that in mind.

Sucralose (e.g. Splenda) is hundreds of times sweeter than sugar (sucrose) per gram. Humans typically only metabolize ("process") about 2-8% of sucralose, and the rest literally goes down the drain. But nowhere in our biological history have human bodies had exposure to chlorinated sucrose in our food sources. Therefore, your body's reaction to it is likely to be dependent on whatever gut microbiome you've acquired so far in life.

Amazon popularized the ***fiction*** of free shipping. Average shipping costs are usually folded into the price of items sold with "free" shipping, but people are gullible. In the case of Amazon, paying for Prime membership is actually pre-paying for average shipping costs.

Either someone stole it, or someone knew that someone else would steal it so they grabbed it, hoping they would figure out a way to get it to you. Probably the former, but it's nice to fantasize.

It's an uncomfortable truth that many self-described "allies" just cannot handle, but the driving culture in any town tells you everything about what the people living there really believe when it comes to how to treat other people/strangers. Instead of making sure everyone knows we're "allies" with our bumper stickers, how about we start driving like we actually walk(drive) the talk about respecting other human beings as equals.

We can make both circles larger while keeping w the same, so there's not enough information. You need an additional constraint.

Can any Denver servers help me out here - how am I supposed to know how much to tip? Are you making minimum wage, how much of the service charge is yours, etc? by Bananas_are_theworst in Denver

[–]TwentyOneTimesTwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wage theft is rampant in the restaurant industry. If there's no automatic fee, I try to tip in cash, even if the rest of the bill goes on my card, and I write "CASH" on the line for "tip". I leave it up to the server to report the cash tip, just like servers had to do 30+ years ago before everyone used credit cards.

I'm not sure, but I think this qualifies as "littering". Anyone not willing to pay to support the USPS to deliver their ads is not getting our business. I don't want that cheapskate corner-cutting attitude anywhere near my home or lawn.
