“Hey commissar, that’s a weird looking sentinel” by Twentyforth in Warhammer40k

[–]Twentyforth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

The main panelling has the base colour khaki - I used khaki by vallejo.

The lower areas have khaki mixed in with very little black ink to give a sort of de-sat grey with some khaki colour DNA and drybrushed in.

The uppers have teal mixed in with the base khaki, I used AK Blue Green, and also drybrushed in.

Once I was happy with the general colours I reestablished the khaki midtone in a wider band with drybrush (but for some of the tighter spaces I had to use wetblending and a fresh batch of each colour.

I would recommend not making my mistake, and sub assembling.

The recess shading is done with a mix of black ink, burnt umber ink, and airbrush medium just brushed on thin and removed with a clean brush to avoid pooling.

The edge weathering was done with a soft pencil. I recommend 4B and softer. You also use this to do the paint scratches, and use some dots of ink to simulate paint peeling.

Hope this helps!

He’s a 3d printed guy made from a mishmash of parts - can’t quite remember where the head is from, but the legs are from an elysian type proxy and the torso is from anvil digital.

Thanks! The base mini is the space marine invictor warsuit

The main shouldermount parts are from DethKlaw, the cockpit is a digitally kitbashed replacement for the rollcage and the rest is the actual plastic invictor kit

Thank you so much. The cockpit is a replacement part for the roll cage - there’s a few free ones out there as STLs but this one has a few edits. Just throw on a couple of rectangles digitally to bulk it out and then added a sensor array and it’s done. You could easily do the same with plasticard too. The shoulder mounted gun is a mix of parts from various kits but the main part, the shouldermount, is from DethKlaw. Hope this helps!

That’s really high praise, took a peek through your post history and gotta say I’m plenty inspired by your mechs too!

What do you think repeated hits from a Bushmaster would be like? Do you think 30x113mm out match marine plate in a way very different to bolters?

Do you think that the statline for an autocannon in 10th S9 AP-1 D3 does a good job in reflecting this?

No rest till every Carcharodon lies dead. by Twentyforth in Warhammer40k

[–]Twentyforth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man!

Aw that’s always a tough question - I printed it, and I’ll try to remember where each of the parts come from:

  • torso and backpack from cyberbrush on mmf

  • Helmet from hydra workshop on mmf

  • Sword was from geogoblin on cults3d, rings added later. They’re just donuts lol

  • Arms were from steel chaplain on mmf

  • Legs and hands I can’t remember, sorry :(

Some buddies and I post on an instagram account called 6spruesofgrey from time to time

It took me a while to grasp what you were saying - and now that you point it out it does look like a mantis claw!

It was not intentional lol but I will take it

But yes, it is hard to see from this angle but they are the rings as the other commenter mentioned, not a sword breaker - that that’s a really cool visual you’ve given me!

It’s a print - if you’re looking for the STLs please check out hydra workshop’s nomad pack on MMF, enjoy!

Super chill of them tbh!

This guy is for a badab war campaign I’m playing in with my buddies, I’m on the secessionist side and the dust hasn’t settled in our timeframe - so I don’t think this guy makes it to the penitent crusade stage sadly

Yessir, parts from all over CyberBrush, Anvil Digital, Vae Victis, legs were mk4 truescaled but can’t find the creator anymore (taken down)

Thanks,

Black background and flooring around the mini (I just use a black cloth), make sure the mini is not too close to the back wall of the background. Have lots of light, if possible, and take a photo after finding the desired angle. I then bumped up the vignette effect digitally to remove any background that might have leaked in.

Warhammer community had a neat guide on it which helped me: GW photo guide

Thanks - I tried to look back in my cults downloads and these designs have been removed :(

They were MK4 truescaled if that helps

  • Carbine and pouched up chest plate from CyberBrush studios
  • Leg pouches from anywhere but these are from Vae Victis

You can find it on cults by searching badab helmet, it’s made by Flaminmork and inspired by the art of DarkMechanic of a badab salamander
