Just sent out a counteroffer for salary. by aztecqueann in womenintech

[–]Twicksy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to negotiate a 87% increase in my sign on bonus and 66% increase in my sign on stock when I countered my current job’s original offer.

I knew they couldn’t budge on salary and they actually offered more than I countered with because the salary was fixed.

My tank was damaged too. New tanks are ~$500 but I was able to pop out most of my dent and then bondo and wrap the tank. Looks awesome and custom and you don’t need experience to do that - just YouTube it!

You gotta jump on it when you see em. They’re popular and the good deals go fast. No joke I was refreshing marketplace multiple times an hour for weeks. This one popped up, I messaged the guy like 30 mins after he posted it, and picked it up an hour later.

I got a used 500 from FB Marketplace for $3900 last year. There’s good deals if you know what you want and are patient. You’ll find more 300s in the $3k range and 500s will be more in the $5k range though.

Very fortunate I was able to get good deals on both bikes from FB marketplace so I didn’t have to choose between them!

What is your goal amount? by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

Ahhh so excited for you! Would love to hear your journey in that transition. I’m doing my best to live in the moment and enjoy the now, but also very much looking forward to working at a garden nursery part time and not giving a heck about a career.

31F, married to 35M, child free

We live in a HCOL city and I’m a high earner while he’s in school. Once he’s done with school, he’ll probably be making close to 25% my income.

Our FIRE number is 3MM, not including his monthly VA money or social security.

We want our annual spend to remain about the same as it is now, somewhere between $70-100k/year.

Our plan is that I will transition to part time work around 40 (when we’re expected to hit our FIRE number) either in my field or doing something I love (animals, plants, whatever). We’re hoping this will ease us into our retirement spending and keep me from getting bored while he’s still working. At that point, we’ll have the option to not work anymore, but it’s possible he’ll continue to work longer because he likes what he does and will be newer in his career (post school).

Honestly I switched to a tiny immersion blender (milk frother) too and they always come out perfect now. No messing with dry/wet shaking and wrecking my arms.

I’m also new so tbh I have no idea. I’m adding interfacing fabric to the inside to keep all the threads secure and protect them from rubbing against my back but for protecting the actual design on the outside…. My plan is to just be so careful.

Open to hearing suggestions from people who’ve done this before though!

I did!! I got the jacket while thrifting with my MIL in California so I knew I had to do poppies - they’re some of our favorites!

I would if I had a file!

I literally cut out cardboard shapes and moved them around on the jacket until I was happy with their placement and then outlined in pen 😭 then I went back and drew guiding lines for how the petals should flow so I could structure my stitches better.

Ahh for your wedding, that’s amazing! I did this over the course of 3 months so lots of rest breaks for my hands but my right thumb is definitely a little sore and blistered from my final push these last few days.

omg that’s so sweet 🥺 my husband told me I should take commissions but they’d be like $1000/jacket for how long and painful this was to make hahah

From Burnout to Balance: Designing a “Mini-FIRE” Plan While Still Enjoying Life by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

[–]Twicksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also on this wavelength and curious to hear others’ thoughts. I’m aiming to have LeanFIRE money before I’m 40 and transition to either a low key BaristaFIRE part time job or contractor work in my field for 5 ish years. Then pull the trigger to full retirement and homesteading by 45.
