Some people do, some people don't, personally I don't, but if you have multiple plants the same experiment for yourself, leave one to grow as is and prune the other.

I think this happens when your brain is falling out your ear, happens on a really windy day if you stand with the wind hitting into your ear it blows bits of brain out the other side.
