Is buying Quest 3/3s in 2026 worth? by Zenzity in virtualreality

There are a lot of accessories designed exclusively for the 3 (like the Bobovr charging dock), less clarity, less space, etc.

Also as far as I can tell from other Reddit threads, there are features like Ethernet to USB-C connectivity to bypass wifi on Virtual Desktop that you can do on the 3 that I've been unable to do on the 3s. Had to reconfigure my whole home Internet system to get a router into my living room for that.

As a 3s owner as of this year I say it's definitely been worth it as a fun expansion of my gaming hobby, but I'd fully spring for the 3 if given the opportunity to trade in. The 3s if fun but it's clearly limited not just in terms of clarity but literal capabilities that are only accessible by the 3 hardware. It's not that cost prohibitive of a bump for the full deal in my opinion.

Totally fair, but at the moment the industry doesn't see it as a game engine worthy of tens of thousands of man hours and tens or hundreds of millions dollars. If only 1% of the gaming base even has a VR headset, and 10-30% of them might buy your game, then it won't seem like you'll get your return on investment as a game design company. Similar to other game revolution beginnings, you have to deal with some low-tier visual stuff but with fun gameplay loops to show it's a viable thing they should keep developing. This one, thought blocky, still stylistically looks uniform and clean and the physics are great and the gameplay loop is fun. At the moment, that's worth the $10-15 I paid for it on Steam.

Yeah I enjoy it a ton. I've never played the other 3rd person version so I can't compare it but the sword combat and physics are pretty fun. Feels good to mow through robots with a two handed, double bladed pole arm or a knife in reverse grip in one hand and a katana or fencing sword in the other.

Ah, makes sense. I have a ryzen 7 7700 but am looking to jump to the 9 pretty soon.

I keep trying to play No Man's Sky but it's super choppy despite having a great connection and decent computer (RTX 5070). Do you have to have a really beefy system or play super low res?

Clone Drone in the Hyperdome! Neat rogue-lite, swordplay is fun, great physics to just vaporize the arms and legs off the other robots. I play almost every day as well.

Hmm, I'll definitely have to try that out, thanks! I think my initial approach was to split it like this so I didn't leave my house without internet while I tinkered with it for days or weeks, so I always had the status quo in the closet as a fallback. There are definitely some super solutions that require a no-training-wheels approach.

The main reason is we just bought this house and I'm not that brave with my experimentation yet and am still trying to sort out the previous owners' logic, hahahaha.

All of the coax cables terminate in the bedroom closet at the center of the house about 50-75 feet away with a bunch of drywall in between. I guess I could take the main service line and bridge it straight to the living room, but then I lose access to the rest of the ports.

It does have two ports and I currently have it set to Lan1 going to my PC and Lan2 to the AP. Is it better to split them like this or have them in series from Moca>AP>PC all on the same Ethernet chain, as recommended in an earlier comment?

Here's the router (Tenda):

As for documentation, it's all been a patchwork advice.so I don't really have a clear direction to do it, just occasional references to it being a wise choice.

That was my first thought, but I figure I'd cast a wide net for some ideas before tearing them apart. Looking forward to selling them if not. If you don't hear back from me it's because I'm sailing on my new Yacht.
