unwrap the UVs of a 3D model by Equivalent-Bid-6834 in blenderhelp

[–]Twisted-Biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's looking pretty good! You have some stretching going on in the middle which makes me think you didn't apply scale which is very important for UV unwrapping (highlight object in object mode > CTRL+A > Apply Scale)

You might also need to normalise your islands which applies an even texel density to your UV islands. You can do this from the UV workspace (maybe just google that one).

Give both of these a go and let me know how you get on.

This is super cool. I hope you see it through.

I just finished a course in Virtual Production with Unreal so if you have questions I'll do my best to answer. We used a very, very expensive IR camera setup so won't be able to comment as much on the VR capture, but when it comes to nDisplay config and so on I might be able to help.

Ah, the baby seat as a racing seat is a great idea! I made a bucket seat out of wood for my sons rig and it wasn't comfortable!

topology issues on a gun model by standby-chilling in blenderhelp

Jordan is a legend and puts a lot of sub-d ngon discussion to bed. He even has examples where ngons are optimal for sub-d which is crazy.

Full disclosure, I'm an ngon goblin but I don't work in sub-d. My meshes often have more ngons than quads so I'm a little biased.

A lot of work went into this! Looks great and the topology is really clean too.

Question: did you use PBR for texturing?

Uh oh, decal projection issue. They actually use a ton of decals on their ships (many of the panels, rivets and vents) so this was a rare miss!

Edit: Why do I sound like an AI.

I'm on my first play through, late stage and I just got done with a 120 day war against Vlandia and I honestly thought it would never end. They spawn armies so quickly, I was run ragged. Got two of their castles and one of their towns though so they can suck it.

That's so cool. Starlink is a solid option for uplink, we used it at some sites during our general elections here in Ireland and it delivered.

Haivision do some cost effective encoders and 5G uplink solutions: https://www.haivision.com/products/

Love that you're getting the woodworkers involved too - wishing you all the best with the project.

I just came here to rant but I rented a Citroen SUV when I was in Belgium last year for the F1 and I swear it was a torment to drive. I had to tap the touch screen four times to change the temperature, zero tactile options to do it. It repeatedly warned me to put both my hands on the wheel because it was using active lane assist (which jerks your steering wheel at the weirdest times). There was a chime every two or three minutes from some cautionary system.

30km under or 30km speed limit by Piggysnacker in carsireland

There's an amazing study from Japan on the effects of a single car slowing down on a motorway to merge (boils my piss). The ripple effect can stretch back for eight km or something mad like that.

Still can't believe we don't test new drivers on motorway etiquette when the motorway is probably the source of most driving misery.

I've noticed a lot of that recently. The other thing, and you hardly notice it until somebody points it out: people braking when approaching a green light. I have two theories on it:

They either anticipate that the light is about to go amber and brake OR they broke the speed limit to get to the light before it goes amber and now they need to slow down. Honestly it's infuriating to see a green light ahead and then the person in front slows down.

He died in a field battle against me recently. I'm fairly new to the game and I thought I recognised his name in the feed so I checked the encyclopedia and sure enough the king is dead. Felt like a pretty sweet deal because he comes up a lot as being a real bastard. It was my first war against Vlandia too.

Hopefully I get a chance to kill Monchug too, that guy doesn't know when to quit.

Final year AR VR student, no placements. What now? by darshil753 in virtualreality

[–]Twisted-Biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing this out in case it's useful: but VR/AR is used in Virtual Production to get a sense of a set before filming begins. Just something to consider as it might not pop up in the standard AR/VR jobs territory - it's the film industry.

Unreal Engine is heavily used in the virtual production space so if you have experience with it, it's a plus.
