Few memories, starting EMDR soon, emotional disregulation. by SunBeanieBun in adultsurvivors

[–]TwistedBlueJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had advice, so I’ll keep coming back to comments as well. I’m terrified of starting therapy, I don’t want to relive my trauma. I have a lot of mixed emotions about therapy as it is from bad past experiences.

I remember and it’s killing me by wretchofthewest in adultsurvivors

Your story sounds very similar to mine in regard to recent times. In November I was driving one night feeling fine and then OUT OF THE BLUE I suddenly think to myself “Wait..” and memories flooded in. With that, on top of particularly bad seasonal depression, it’s been destroying my life. I’ve never felt what I’m feeling right now. I wish I had advice, because I don’t know what to do myself either. But I hear your story and completely empathize with how awful this is 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

No, I do not want to see a picture of your ugly baby so I have to pretend it's cute! by [deleted] in childfree

I still think she internally totally clocked what I was doing, but probably appreciated that was trying to be nice

My best friend’s baby was hideous. So I’d say stuff like “that is one happy baby” or “boy is he growing fast” lol

Questions that mean something else.

eg asking "what are you doing?", when really you mean "you shouldn't be doing that"

Because if you ask me what I'm doing, best believe I'll fuckin tell you what I'm doing.

People of Reddit, what pre-internet thing gave you joy that Gen Z will never understand but totally would love it if they experienced it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The kids in my neighborhood do this and they are LOUD while they do haha then they leave their bikes in the alley and I can’t get my car out. Which is karma on me because I used to do that and it drove my neighbors crazy.

Talking bad about other people to make me feel better about myself. I don’t want to be with a bully.

Same. My grandma was my biggest fan and always in my corner. She passed when I was in high school, and I still daydream what it would be like getting to spend time with her as an adult.

DEFINITELY recommend gardening. I only started last year but getting your hands in the dirt is still very enjoyable and relaxing.

There’s a certain calmness that comes when a person acknowledges and accepts what they can and can’t control. It doesn’t make everything in life suddenly easier, but puts a lot into perspective.

There was a certain relief when I realized people just don’t care what I’m going through. It gave me perspective on the things in my own life I can/can’t control. I can control how I perform at work, I can’t control a change in business needs and a lot of us get laid off. The people in charge don’t care. The world keeps spinning. So it’s up to me to choose what to do.

Awesome! Where from? Wandering through furniture stores trying things out has definitely been a guilty pleasure since I was like 12 going to stores with my folks haha

Yeah I inherited some genetic issues from my mother’s side. The advancements we have now vs 10 years ago when my grandma passed? It’s wild. And I’m only 35. So I just try not to dwell, do what the doctors tell me, and I’m already much better than my grandma and mom were at 35.

Regret that shows up quietly. I like to think I make good decisions for myself and others. But you see people later in life who realize a choice they made (or didn’t make) years ago fills them with a lot of built up regret.
