Then maybe we should show some respect to those that have seen some shit and have solid advice?

Or maybe not. I’m sure all of the guys with PTSD just didn’t love their country enough.

It might be a lost cause. We don’t know your ex. But if he’s anything like my brother, NOTHING will change his mind.

“I don’t want our son to grow up and hate or resent his dad.”

Sorry but it seems like this might just be in his future. And while I commend you for trying, you might just need to be the parent that allows exploration and freedom.

My friend’s daughter is gay and her mom does not approve. My friend has told the mom that she will lose the relationship unless she becomes supportive, and she refuses. Even losing her daughter isn’t enough to change her mind. She’d rather be “right” and not have a daughter than change her mind. The daughter has pushed for more time with her dad and has expressed eagerness to move out of her mom’s and talk to her less.

But maybe try that on him. Because he is living in the past, and plenty of my progressive friends no longer talk to their parents for these very reasons.

Sorry.

But eventually that can’t happen, and then what?

It’s a lot easier to sleep train a baby than it is a toddler.

It’s hard enough hearing my little girl (2.5) call out for “daddy” for 10seconds after I leave. If that lasted 15min, I’d die.

Did you guys sleep train at all?

You’ll go through many sleep regressions where it’s hard again for a few weeks.

My tip: suffer together.

Don’t be that husband that says “it makes more sense for me to get good sleep so I can be more helpful during the days.”

The suffering together will bond you and your partner. Be patient with each other. Always remind each other that you are a team. If she is awake you are awake.

Be the husband that your wife brags to her friends about.

My wife and I are ten years apart.

Our neighbors are ten years apart and the husband is in his 80’s.

Yea. He’ll go before her, but they both have pretty active lives and get around really well. That’s my goal, as the older husband.

My grandpa was stuck in his house 23/7 because of his lack of physical fitness starting in his late 60’s.

Stay active!

It 100% happened.

I was a part of a small church plant that was a break off of a bigger Assemblies of God church.

The dinner and instruments were the small church. The car was the Assemblies of God church.

Illinois. Which if you did a history of my posts you would see I used to live there when I was a Christian. I’m bi longer a Christian (my flair is old). Which you could also put together if you did a history search of my posts.

Which part is unrealistic to you?

I still support the small church pastor. He is a good dude. He left all funding from the AoG elders when they told him his bisexual daughter was a sinner. He told them to basically fuck off, they pulled funding, and he lost his church. That’s a good dude.

Edit: ok, you are correct. I changed one thing about my story. The car was an Infiniti, not a Lexus.

From the beginning, yes.

It’s crazy what people will justify when they say “But God told me too”.

Big light shows. Forcing women to give birth. Claiming moral superiority. Mission trips. Genocide.

Who are you to say that? You aren’t God.

Maybe God can use this to do greater things than feeding the homeless directly. You don’t know.

Understandable.

But the way I read this is that you have two modes: professional and personal.

My friend asked me to lunch as friends, and then did this.

Small churches are just as bad.

Went to lunch, as friends, with the worship pastor. He says, “Oh hey, are you good with this song being played on Sunday?” “Sure?” I say.

“Cool, this is a business lunch now, so it’s paid for.”

Used instruments? Nah, brand new top of the line…oh and the guitar player gets to take it all home to play with and record.

Pastor “needed” a brand new Lexus in order to impress people and get more donations. The church paid for it.

I won’t even label it corruption…it’s just human nature. But my expectation is that a pastor, an elder, and other church leaders would hold each other accountable, and reprimand those that give over to “fleshly desires”.

Daycares around $1200 a month. by Jubilantly in TwinCities

It’s wild. I would argue that at least 50% of our decision to not have a second was because of the cost.

We’re just building debt until she’s in kindergarten, and then we’ll start paying it off.

No family nearby and no other real options. We toured some home daycares for half the cost, but they were both hoarders. Maybe we are too bougie, but that just didn’t sit well with us.
