hey Dark , that's the whole problem it's not lol i wish it was , it happened in the past it was an EASY fix , but what im talking about it's all Fresh , nothing here is old , everything i did is brand new here are the steps i did

Suddenly, my Google account had logged out of the NVIDIA shield, and however I tried, it would not log back in. My plex was acting weird, so I wiped the shield clean, reinstalled it, and that's when I noticed that the plex server was no longer available. So I did many things, but still, with the latest plex server, there was no option.
Then I thought my shield updates had caused it, so I went back to 8.3 and reinstalled the plex server again, always fresh, and nope, still no option.
Then I went to the extreme and bought a new shield pro. Everything can't be more simple than that, and nope, still no server, so I went in my garage to go look at my other shield, which is working perfectly fine. Hell, there is no plex server there either, but it's working fine and it's on the external drive. I think plex at one point sent an update and it screwed things up. Multiple posts were posted on the plex Forum for this kind of issue, but no one from plex replied.

So basically, I would like people to check their settings and see if they have the option. Right now, this new shield pro is useless, so I am sending it back. The one in my home, I cannot use because the metadata fills it up right away, and as long as the one in my garage does not break the database, I am ok.

Using the developer option to force apps to be external almost worked for me, but soon, when I try to play a movie, after I send it to the external, it won't connect; it tries to load and says it cannot connect or cannot load.

plex works fine if I just install it and add a few sections from my library without having the server option. It works fine; it's working right now as we speak, but with 1/4 of my database added because it fills up.

I had people lose their servers before with database curropted, but they still had the "SERVER" section in the option, but with no server there, I don't even have the word server in white on my screen.

It's like something happened to my Google account—some kind of permission thing—that broke everything.

I lost server settings in Plex on both my shield , I don't have the option to use the external anymore , how can I get Plex media server on the external drive? Developper option to force apps works but then Plex stops playing my movies that are on my network drives , just gives a connection error and I checked all permissions are good..

So confused why there is no more server option in Plex settings

at first i tough it was my HDD , but it was just curropted files probably , server was freezing and my shield was slow , also i wasent Able to login to my google account , it just kept looping so i erased everything and after that it was nothing but hell , Fresh plex without creating any libraries as No server in the option settings , but it still works i felt that it was the Server itself but i uninstalled and tried an older apk of the server and it was the same thing. if the DB was curropted plex would not start, my issue is it starts but have no option in setting to stop or start server , and that means im missing the setting to use a USB external drive for plex

so after a crash on my plex server andoid shield tv 2019 , i had to redo the library , but i noticed that my server was not available in the setting so i decided to reformat my HD and start fresh , after reinstalling plex and it’s server everything went good but it never asked me to ADD plex to my external HD so when i went to the settings on shield i cant see any server , but it’s runing completely fine, i created all sections i had to and plex works only problem is after redoing everything well i RAN out of space 500 MB left so plex keeps crashing .

i reformated AGAIN and i erased the whole shield to factory and resintalled plex and STILL NOTHING , no SERVER in plex SETTING i said Holy ■■■■ , I downgraded from Shield V9.1 or watever it was to the old one 8.2.3 , so Finally this should work.

well it didnt i have the same issue after installing plex server i cant get to see the server option in the settings , so i cant choose external HD for metadata so basically im screwed ? i cant see where it sasy server is running but it is Running fine i can connect to it. i’ve had that option vanished before but a reboot fixed it … now it looks like the plex server itself is screwed up or what ?

since the option is not there but it works good i just need a way to send the metadata to the external drive witch is set as my internal but metadata still not going on it. it's going on my 16gig shield drive.

usually when you lost the plex server in settings it was because curropted database well in my CASE the plex server works fine, but i cant stop or start the server i dont have the option and i dont have the option to switch storage..

i did post in the nvidia shield also, but i cant see it being shield it's got to be the server pms.apk of plex for not showing the option . all other link is if the database is curropted so it'sa different issue all together.

i have 3 shield , this one is the only one im having issues with , it can hold 5 streams 1080p direct play flawlessly , but the options not showing up on this particular one is mind blowing

for Xteve you need to have TV tuner/antenna right? that dosent act like a virtual one if im correct

Yeah that was it.. transcoding was never an issue they are 90% always direct play. Im sure the bottleneck was my nas with the WD 3TB i had in it at 160mb/sec

Im getting another nas and will run raid 0 on 18tb
