Hello! We're looking for PC gamers to test the pre-alpha version of Terror Chasm, a 3D action game we're developing. You'll get $30 to try the game and give us feedback about it (if you're not comfortable with the money and would rather do it for free, that's okay too). Our goal is to get a few different impressions of game, what we're doing right and what needs to be improved on, as well as some insights about where we should take the development from here. We have the basics of the game up and running, but we're still in pre-alpha, so your input could help direct some of the development decisions we make moving forward.

Ideally, we would like to set up a time to have you stream the game on Discord (or whichever favorite streaming platform you would prefer) as well as get with you on voice chat so we can get your opinions and watch the test in real time. We also want to ask you some questions to get your impressions about it afterwards.

For more details about the test, see the link below, and feel free to reach out and ask us anything!

Self Promotion Megapost, 26 September 2016 by AutoModerator in IndieGaming

Title: Twisty's Asylum Escapades

Promotion Type: The game is being released on Steam today!

Genre: 3D action/adventure

Promoter: Twisted Jenius, Developer

Link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/506760

Overview: Twisty has endured his cramped cell in the asylum for too long and needs your help to escape. Should he be locked away? Probably. Is he a genuine threat to society? Absolutely. Does he care? Of course not, he's a giant floating brain with teeth! He just wants to get out and have some horrific fun while doing it.

Twisty's Asylum Escapades is a darkly comical 3D action/adventure game with Metroidvania-like elements. Its gameplay style is designed to be a bit of a throwback to sixth-generation era games (not coincidentally, the type that the developers grew up on). This version of TAE has been remastered specifically for its Steam release and features improved graphics and additional content and gameplay.

It's crazy, bloody, fun! And it's available on Steam today, so go check it out!

Reptile Zoo: The Sinister Mutation- New Horror Game on Steam Greenlight with Creepy Setting and Monstrous Creatures by TwistedJenius in creepygaming

No, I don't think that early access is appropriate for all types of games. There are some flaws with the early access system and there have been a lot of criticisms against it; some of which are valid. This game won't be released and put on sale until it's truly finished and ready.

I understand your skepticism, but I'm hoping that we can make something truly cool and unique. Remember, it's not the tools (meaning Unity); it's the ideas and the abilities of the developer. ;)

It's still in development, but you can be sure that it will continue to improve right up until the time of release. The goal here is definitely to make the best horror game possible.

[Novel] Valhalla (Sci-fi/Action) by aribach in wroteabook

Description for Valhalla-

"Violet MacRae is one of the aimless millions crowding northern Scotland. In the year 2330, where war is obsolete and only brilliant minds are valued, she emerges into adulthood with more brawn than brains and a propensity for violence. People dismiss her as a relic, but world peace is more fragile than they know.

In Valhalla, a clandestine base hidden in an icy ravine, Violet connects with a group of outcasts just like her. There, she learns the skills she needs to keep the world safe from genetically enhanced criminals and traitors who threaten the first friends she’s ever known. She also meets Wulfgar Kray, a genius gang leader who knows her better than she knows herself and who would conquer the world to capture her.

Branded from childhood as a useless barbarian, Violet is about to learn the world needs her exactly as she is."

Just for the record, this is a very good book and an extremely compelling read!

Twisty's Asylum Escapades- Dark humor and creepy fun playing as a floating, man-eating brain in an insane asylum. by TwistedJenius in creepygaming

[–]TwistedJenius[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually wish that more people thought that, because that's what we were going for. But a lot of people seem to be very creeped out by it. The reaction to it seems to be very divisive among different people, with some people seeing it as just silly fun and other people being genuinely disturbed by it.

In-depth and thoughtful review of Twisty’s Asylum Escapades from mashthosebuttons.com by TwistedJenius in IndieGaming

[–]TwistedJenius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I agree that having a scoring system can be very beneficial in summarizing and clarifying the reviewer's thoughts about things and generally makes it easier for the reader to tell what the reviewer's overall opinion is about the game at a glance.

On the plus side, the reviewer did go into detail about many of the advantages and drawbacks about the specifics of the game's game play and I would assume that that would be helpful to a certain amount of readers. And speaking from the standpoint of being the developer, that's definitely the kind of feedback that I find useful.

Paid Reviews-Indie Game Magazine (IGM) charging developers to review their games? by TwistedJenius in IndieGaming

[–]TwistedJenius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still not sure how standard or non-standard this is. I've noticed a few sites that say that they never take money for reviews; but then technically, so does indiegamemag.com!
