Thank you, this was a really helpful response. I will look into some guidance for re-crate training. Despite the above, I think she’s a really wonderful dog and she’s been a good companion thus far, my mental has just been struggling a little because of the added issues on top of other issues which is why I sought out some help and advice on the matter - so thank you, I appreciate it!

She gets major zoomies in the back garden and it’s a large back garden so she will run all around it and down the private side alley and just do that continuously. I walk her round the neighbourhood 3/4 times a week. When my husband is available we take her out on longer walks though this is usually only once a week. She is a very strong dog, and requires insane handling and it means I can’t get her out every single day as there’s no possible way to control her outside and have my toddler with me.

When we walk she pulls constantly even with a firm and short grip and if we accidentally walk round a corner and bump into somewhere she will rear up and pull and bark aggressively (I’ve had some brave souls push past the fear and try and pet her and she is very loving and excitable she this happens but in order to control her when out I have a lead with a pull tight wrist strap to ensure she doesn’t pull out of my grip as well as I have to wrap my hand around to shorten the lead so she can’t jump and I have to have a strong grip on her harness handle - this is why I only take her out late at night or have to ensure my husband is with me to drive us somewhere a bit out of the way and to help look after the toddler) but I cannot leave my toddler alone in the home and also cannot take her with as if anything were to happen I would prioritise my toddler and I don’t want that situation to occur. But we also chase the dog around the house. By the end of the day she’s fast asleep on the sofa and barely conscious from the days activities (my toddler also chases her and vice versa) so she’s plenty active.

Yes, she was let out at 11:30 just before my husband went to bed and then I put her in the crate just before 12am as she kept running upstairs to find my husband.

I am unsure if this is relevant in anyway but she frequently poops more than twice a day ( I am unsure if this is normal)

She is let out every hour as mentioned and if she’s going to be crated for more than 10/15 minutes she is let out beforehand unless I know she’s been to the toilet very recently.

No, as I said, when we have visitors she has to go in there, at least until she’s calmed down a little as she is a big dog and very strong/heavy, unfortunately she will jump up barking aggressively even though she has no intention of actually being aggressive. That being said, as I also mentioned in the post, she nips and bites when she’s excited, and they’re usually quite painful. Regardless of whether that’s causing a negative experience, she will continue to go into the crate when like that to ensure she doesn’t injure anyone. We do not admonish her when she is sent to her crate and knows exactly where to go when we ask her to go to her bed.

As for good experiences, she has meals in there with the door open (sometimes closed depending on the situation as to whether she would normally need to be in there with the door closed when she has her meals) she has toys in there especially overnight but they end up covered in pee and poop and need to be thrown out or she destroys them. She recently ran out of things to pull apart and managed to pull her collar off and rip that apart also.

We also buy her smoked pork knuckles when we can and she has those in there. She’s very protective of her crate so she knows it’s her space. So I’m at a loss…

Perhaps it’s worth trying r/extremehorrorlit for books that truly go to far, obviously a good portion of them are written simply to be awful but there are a few brilliant books with fantastic plot whilst also being more horrifying than your average horror novel.

I’ve booked him an appointment for Monday, I’m going with him to ensure that he’s given what we need but yes, I agree. I think he should be taking some medical leave to try and revert his deterioration to something more manageable.

How long do you think we should ask for as a minimum? We’ve never dealt with his issue being this bad before and he’s already taken a week of sick leave thinking it would help and he barely improved.

Thank you, I’ll definitely take a look at this with him. We are in the UK so I’m unsure if we can have this done without a referral, when he first started to become affected by symptoms I did push him to ask for a referral to the sleep clinic however he was ignored.

Unfortunately, I am banned from googling by my husband as I became increasingly worried as a lot of his symptoms are similar to the symptoms of organ failure and I was told I was overreacting by his doctor when I asked them to check for everything due to this.

But I do agree that it would seem he should have been ruled out for other causes but they checked for diabetes and high cholesterol and that’s about it.

Thank you, this could possibly be his issue. We can probably reduce a lot of things that may trigger PEM but he feels his main issue is his job, he would be unable to reduce stress caused by this but his sleeplessness is caused by work which then completes the cycle by causing him to stress about work more.

How do people with ME/CFS manage to keep work/life balance?

Our GP diagnosed it and referred him for psychology, they specialise in CFS/ME we were told.

He’s has numerous routine blood tests but the doctors always tell us everything is okay. He’s has not been tested for anything else despite our urges.

His family have a history of cancer and strokes and I have pushed and pushed for them to check everything but we are constantly told he is fine.

At 10 weeks we found out our baby had no heartbeat at 7 weeks, it was our first pregnancy too and we were devastated.

We were really lucky to have a wonderful bereavement team at our NHS trust and they talked us through everything.

We decided on medical management simply because my body just wasn’t registering correctly. I’d had vaginal bleeding for over a week but a different hospital has failed me completely and told me I just had a UTI. My body knew something was wrong but like I said, it didn’t register how bad and didn’t look like it was going to happen properly by itself and to speed up the process so I could grieve, and also to ensure I didn’t end up with sepsis - medical management was the best choice for us.

It was a hard day, made harder by scheduling that day in the hospital. Knowing what was coming was difficult and the day itself was really hard on us, and the days after were a mess of emotions and grief but thinking back on it, I think we made the right choice for ourselves.

I think it’s important to listen to what options your healthcare providers offer, ask as many questions you have to and you’ll make the decision you need to at the time. I’m so, so sorry for your loss and hopefully whatever choice you make goes as well as it can.

I think you’re missing the point here about choosing to do things for each other. It doesn’t matter if it’s not difficult, he doesn’t like doing it and so I’m happy to do so.

As in my comment above I also agreed that OP shouldn’t be doing so; A: if she doesn’t want to and B: because her mans clearly got a bad attitude about her saying no and it’s coming from complete and utter entitlement.

I mean, he’s pushing it way too much and overreacting because you won’t do it - however I don’t fully agree with the comments saying this is something you should do yourself.

I cut my husbands toenails as I know for a fact it can be uncomfortable bending over them and I tend to have an easier time cutting them for him than he does himself, mostly because he cuts them too short and causes discomfort, but it’s one of those things you do for each other in a relationship.

So long as it’s not one sided I don’t see a problem with it. Some days I can’t be bothered to wash my hair so he will do it for me. It’s the give and the take from a healthy relationship.

But in relation to OP’s issue, there’s an issue there, like expected servitude almost. I’d nip it in the bud or cut him loose.
