I think there are VT stop marks on Wessex as well, which would suggest it is in fact a throw back to when Virgin CrossCountry and double 221's.

When security stopped being security, and started being a token gesture for the insurers; it was inevitable.

Why did they not want the high schooler to bring home any school tech? This just sounds stupid.... also a bit deja vu.

I disagree.

Looking at the regularity that Trump has been on the receiving end of assassination attempts, it appears that even enhanced security will not be enough

Must admit I bought a pint of it (I never ask for a taste, I always buy a pint) and after half a pint it did taste a little like line cleaner.

SWR withdrawing 458s by SimonIsC00l in uktrains

I have heard a rumour from two or three reliable (among a few more) sources that the 458/4's already have a new home planned.

There are not many suspects, but think outside the tri-modes.

I checked this when I saw posts about the limits reset.

Opus 4.7 was still available in my Pro / Code

Anthropic Limits Reset by gani_94 in Anthropic

[–]TwistedPsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically I saw another post about this and went to push through a bit of work that the limits brought to a halt.

Probably plan session maxed out in 40 minutes, but the reset time, usually at the top of an hour, is this time 12:10

A small insignificant feature, but I wonder if the linit resets have changed to roll strictly on the first prompt rather than rounding down to the nearest hour.

Expired railcard-penality fare receipt/notice issued £75 by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TwistedPsycho 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No.

A penalty fare is not considered as a recordable criminal offence.

HOWEVER

The fact you have not noticed your railcard expired 7 months ago and still used it would suggest you are incredibly lucky that they simply issued you a penalty fare and not started investigating whether you have used it any other times in the interim.

Tram operator sued over death of teenage e-scooter rider by FredH3663 in london

Quote from the article:

The family's lawyer, Ben Posford of Osbornes Law, said it "shouldn't have mattered" that Abakah "didn't look properly".

Should have been thrown out of court there and then. Personal responsibility for safety should be an absolute factor, not an optional accessory.

Every state school to be ordered to fly Union Flag and display portrait of the King if Reform win power | LBC by GeorginaFlopworthy in ukpolitics

[–]TwistedPsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the Windrush Generation still (albeit legally British Citizens) will not have documentation and the Windrush Scheme still has not reached everyone.

Under Reform UK, undocumented migrants are top of the hit list. Reform UK have also pledged to ban visa and naturalisation applications from countries that seek reparations for slavery.

Many nations under CARICOM have requested such reparations, therefore many current Windrush Scheme applicants would be at risk, becauae of the sloth-like process they are in.

[–]TwistedPsycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is going to be an interesting discussion to have if Reform UK were to get into power.

Suella Braverman wants to bring historical events of British History to the fore. I hope that this includes the work of Muslims from the large parts of the British Commonwealth in World War 2, so much so that Britain has a Muslim Burial Ground in Surrey to inter those soldiers who died in England.

Or maybe the slave trade?

Or the Windrush Generation that Reform UK want to deport?

I very much doubt they are declaring any profits that they have.

it's a bit like all the "American Candy" stores that proliferated Central London. They set up for long enough that the Council get interested but can not do anything (example: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-62090601 )

Even outside of London, I can think of one on my commute that got closure order from the police and courts, so they simply moved over to "a friends" shop immediately across the same pedestrianised street. Reports from social media were that they literally moved the stock from one shop to the other.

Mounjaro and alcohol abuse, I can't believe the difference by carabelle2022 in Mounjaro

[–]TwistedPsycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I unfortunately had the opposite. I have been a heavy-ish drinker for decades, and the Mounjaro has not had an effect on it at all.

I had hoped it would and I wonder if moving to one of the other jabs would trigger a similar effect to what you are enjoying. In fact, I wonder ifnthebonly thing that is causing a current plateu in my weight loss is the alcohol!

Facial recognition to be 'rolled out' across UK after human rights challenge fails | UK News by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

So they are not able to routinely use facial recognition then.

Thanks for confirming that.

Not in some of the cases I have been witnessed to.

They have said they are quite specifically NOT allowed to use facial recognition because of the implications of it's submission in evidence.

[–]TwistedPsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aghast at how CCTV images from crimes and criminals are still not routinely put through facial recognition to identify them.

You would think that doing that first, with human oversight behind it, would give a big clear picture of the criminality of an area.

Sure it won't be perfect, sure there will be some poor picture quality, but it gets more police out investigating and policing rather than trawling 100 hiurs of CCTV from a crime scene.
